- On vehicles with "Remote Engine Start" (SA1CR):
- Starting the engine while working on the braking system is strictly forbidden. When starting the engine via "Remote Engine Start", the parking brake is automatically applied.
- Deactivate the function "Remote Engine Start".
- Open the hood before working on the braking system. This prevents the engine from being started.

Vehicle may slip off the vehicle hoist if the vehicle hoist is handled incorrectly.

- After completion of repair work, check the transmission oil level in the rear axle differential.
- Use only the approved final drive transmission oil.

TECHNICAL INFORMATION
To remove the rear axle differential, you must lower the rear axle support.
To prevent lowering more than the predefined dimension, you have to replace the installed screws on the rear axle support with repair screws and washers.

After a brake pad exchange and before pressing the brake pedal: It is imperative to apply the electromechanical parking brake.
If this is not observed, a CC message appears and the brake system switches to the emergency program. The brake booster is no longer active.

Subsequently, the screw connections for the axle guides are tightened in the NORMAL POSITION with the torque wrench.

- Unclip the holder (1) .
- Remove ground strap (2) .
- Loosen screw (1) .
- Remove the ride height sensor (2) .
- Loosen screws (1) .
- Remove anti-roll bar (2) with the retainers.
NOTE:
Perform the steps on the left and right side.
- Loosen screw (1) .
- Remove the lower rear wishbone (2) .
- Release the screw (3) .
- Remove the lower front control arm (4) .

- Loosen screw (1) . In doing so, counter support at the nut (2) .
- Remove the upper rear control arm (3) .
- Loosen screw (4) . In doing so, counter support at the nut (5) .
- Remove upper front control arm (6) .

- Position the rear axle support on special tools 0 495 821 (31 5 255) and 0 495 819 (31 5 253) .
NOTE:
Perform the steps on the left and right side.
- Replace screw (1)

- Position the upper front control arm (6) .
- Insert the screw (4) and thread the nut (5) .
- Tighten screw (4) by hand. In doing so, counter support at the nut (5) .
- Position the upper rear control arm (3) .
- Insert the screw (1) and thread the nut (2) .
- Tighten screw (1) by hand. In doing so, counter support at the nut (2) .
NOTE:
Perform the steps on the left and right side.
- Replace screw (1)

- Tighten screw (3) by hand.
