1 Switch off ignition and remove transmitter key    
2 Remove door lining on left front door Only if the CODE 938 (Preinstallation for hands-free two-way radio) is to be retrofitted.

4 Remove door sill moldings

5 Remove right sun visor (7) with counterbearing    
6 Remove right front grab handle    
7 Detach right front door edge guard (9) in area of headliner    
8 Remove glove compartment

9 Remove right trim of A-pillar at top (8)    
10 Remove right rear door edge guard (15)    
11 Remove left-hand panel under instrument panel    
12 Remove left paneling on A-pillar at bottom (10)    
13 Remove accelerator pedal sensor (B37)   AR30.12-P-1321EW
14 Unclip and remove rain/light sensor cover (6)    
15 Remove overhead control panel control unit or overhead control panel electronics

16 Remove inside rearview mirror (A67)

17 Unscrew screws/bolts (14) and remove inside rearview mirror support unit (13)    
18 Remove center console

    The front stowage compartment or ashtray is no longer required.  
19 Remove front seats

20 Disconnect ground line of battery

INSTALLING Install     
34 Retrofit wiring harness for roof sign lamp (E144) into left drip rail Only if the CODE 342 (Roof sign connection for taxi) is to be retrofitted.

    IMPORTANT The roof sign adapter (1) is to be handed over to the customer with the relevant screw. It will be required later on for mounting the roof sign lamp (E144).  
35 Install left drip rail Only if the CODE 342 (Roof sign connection for taxi) is to be retrofitted.  
REFER TO TESTING & REPAIR      
    NOTES Make sure that the wiring harness for the roof sign lamp (E144) is not damaged by getting caught in moving parts when mounting the drip rail.
Otherwise the roof sign lamp (E14/4) may malfunction.
IMPORTANT Place the excess length of the wiring harness for the roof sign lamp (E144) into the engine compartment.

NOTES Wrap the AUX connection electrical connector or Media Interface electrical connector on the branch-off line of the wiring harness for the taxi/rental vehicle with felt tape.
Damage due to chafing can otherwise occur.
