Removal [08/2015 - 08/2017]: Procedure

  1. TABLE OF BOLT, SCREW AND NUT 

    Refer to:PROCEDURE - Step 1

  2. RECOVER REFRIGERANT FROM REFRIGERATION SYSTEM 

    See step  1

  3. PRECAUTION 
    NOTE:

    After turning the ignition switch off, waiting time may be required before disconnecting the cable from the battery terminal. Therefore, make sure to read the disconnecting the cable from the battery terminal notice before proceeding with work (Refer to:PRECAUTION [08/2015 - 08/2017] ).

  4. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL 
    WARNING:

    Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to disable the SRS system.

    NOTE:

    When disconnecting the cable some systems need to be initialized after the cable is reconnected (Refer to:INITIALIZATION [08/2015 - 08/2017] ).

  5. REMOVE NO. 1 ENGINE UNDER COVER 

    Refer to:PROCEDURE - Step 2

  6. DRAIN ENGINE COOLANT (for 3UR-FE) 

    Refer to:PROCEDURE - Step 2

  7. DRAIN ENGINE COOLANT (for 3UR-FBE) 

    Refer to:PROCEDURE - Step 2

  8. REMOVE COOLER REFRIGERANT LIQUID PIPE B

    1. Remove the bolt, and slide the hook connector.
    2. Disconnect the suction pipe and liquid pipe.

      NOTE:
      • Do not use a screwdriver or similar tool to disconnect the pipe.
      • Seal the openings of the disconnected parts using vinyl tape to prevent moisture and foreign matter from entering them.
    3. Remove the 2 O-rings from the suction pipe and liquid pipe.
  9. REMOVE HEATER WATER INLET HOSE A

    1. Using pliers, grip the claws of the clip and slide the clip to disconnect the water hose.
      NOTE:
      • Do not apply excessive force to the rear heater outlet water hose.
      • Prepare a drain pan or cloth in case the coolant leaks.
  10. REMOVE HEATER WATER OUTLET HOSE A

    1. Using pliers, grip the claws of the clip and slide the clip to disconnect the water hose.
      NOTE:
      • Do not apply excessive force to the rear heater inlet water hose.
      • Prepare a drain pan or cloth in case the coolant leaks.
  11. REMOVE FRONT WIPER ARM AND BLADE ASSEMBLY RH

  15. REMOVE COWL TOP VENTILATOR LOUVER SUB-ASSEMBLY

  16. REMOVE FRONT WIPER MOTOR AND LINK ASSEMBLY 

    Refer to:PROCEDURE - Step 6

  17. REMOVE LOWER NO. 2 STEERING WHEEL COVER 

    Refer to:PROCEDURE - Step 4

  18. REMOVE LOWER NO. 3 STEERING WHEEL COVER 

    Refer to:PROCEDURE - Step 3

  19. REMOVE STEERING PAD 

    Refer to:PROCEDURE - Step 5

  20. REMOVE STEERING WHEEL ASSEMBLY 

    Refer to:PROCEDURE - Step 6

  21. REMOVE LOWER STEERING COLUMN COVER

  22. REMOVE UPPER STEERING COLUMN COVER

  23. REMOVE TURN SIGNAL SWITCH ASSEMBLY WITH SPIRAL CABLE SUB-ASSEMBLY

  24. REMOVE FRONT DOOR SCUFF PLATE LH 

    Refer to:PROCEDURE - Step 12

  25. REMOVE COWL SIDE TRIM BOARD LH

  26. REMOVE FRONT DOOR OPENING TRIM WEATHERSTRIP LH

    1. Remove the clip.
    2. Detach the 4 claws and remove the air duct.

    1. Remove the clip.
    2. Detach the 4 claws and remove the air duct.
  73. REMOVE NO. 3 AIR DUCT SUB-ASSEMBLY

  74. SEPARATE STEERING INTERMEDIATE SHAFT ASSEMBLY

    1. Put matchmarks on the steering intermediate shaft and the steering column.
    2. Remove the bolt and separate the steering intermediate shaft from the steering column.

    1. Detach the 3 claws and remove the air duct.

    1. Detach the 3 claws and remove the air duct.

    1. Disconnect the connectors and clamp.
    2. Remove the bolt and nut and separate the main body ECU.

    1. Disconnect the connector.
    2. Remove the nut and the turn signal flasher.

    1. Disconnect the connectors and clamp.
    2. Remove the bolt and nut and the ECU integration bracket.
  86. REMOVE INSTRUMENT PANEL REINFORCEMENT ASSEMBLY 
    1. Disconnect the connectors and clamps and separate the wire harness.
    2. Remove the bolt and disconnect the ground wire.

    3. Remove the instrument panel reinforcement.
      1. for Driver Side:

        Remove the 2 caps and 3 bolts.

      2. for Passenger Side:

        Using a T40 "TORX" socket, remove the 2 "TORX" bolts.

        HINT: 

        When removing the bolts, the collars may come off with the bolts.

      3. for Passenger Side:

        Using a 12 mm hexagon wrench, remove the 2 collars.

      4. Remove the 3 bolts, nut and instrument panel reinforcement.

    4. Disconnect the connector and clamp and separate the wire harness.

    1. Remove the 3 bolts, 2 screws and the air conditioning unit.
