Removal [08/2015 - 08/2019]: Procedure
- PRECAUTION WARNING:
Be sure to read Precaution thoroughly before servicing. Refer to:
NOTE:After turning the ignition switch off, waiting time may be required before disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal. Therefore, make sure to read the disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal notices before proceeding with work. Refer to:
- DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL WARNING:
Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to disable the SRS system.
NOTE:When disconnecting the cable, some systems need to be initialized after the cable is reconnected. Refer to:
INITIALIZATION [08/2015 - 08/2017] , or
- REMOVE LOWER NO. 3 STEERING WHEEL COVER
- REMOVE LOWER NO. 2 STEERING WHEEL COVER
- REMOVE STEERING PAD WARNING:
When storing the steering pad, keep the airbag deployment side facing upward.
- Check that the ignition switch is off.
- Check that the cable is disconnected from the negative (-) battery terminal.NOTE:
Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to disable the SRS system.
- Using a T30 "TORX" socket wrench, loosen the 2 screws until the groove along the screw circumference catches on the screw case.
- Pull the steering pad toward you.
- Disconnect the horn connector from the steering pad.
- Using a screwdriver, release the 2 airbag connector locks.
HINT:
Tape the screwdriver tip before use.

When disconnecting any airbag connector, take care not to damage the airbag wire harness.
