Removal [12/2015 - 08/2016]: Procedure

  1. ALIGN FRONT WHEELS FACING STRAIGHT AHEAD 
  2. RECOVER REFRIGERANT FROM REFRIGERATION SYSTEM 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 1

  3. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL 
    NOTE:

    When disconnecting the cable, some systems need to be initialized after the cable is reconnected (Refer to PRECAUTION [12/2015 - 08/2016] ).

  4. REMOVE INSTRUMENT PANEL FINISH PANEL END LH 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 1

  5. REMOVE FRONT WHEELS 
  6. REMOVE NO. 1 ENGINE UNDER COVER 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 4

  7. REMOVE NO. 2 ENGINE UNDER COVER

  8. REMOVE FRONT FENDER APRON SEAL LH

  10. REMOVE V-BANK COVER SUB-ASSEMBLY

  11. DRAIN ENGINE COOLANT

  12. DRAIN TRANSFER OIL

  13. DRAIN AUTOMATIC TRANSAXLE FLUID

  14. REMOVE FRONT WIPER ARM HEAD CAP

  15. REMOVE FRONT WIPER ARM AND BLADE ASSEMBLY LH

  16. REMOVE FRONT WIPER ARM AND BLADE ASSEMBLY RH

  17. REMOVE FRONT FENDER TO COWL SIDE SEAL LH

  19. REMOVE COWL TOP VENTILATOR LOUVER SUB-ASSEMBLY

  21. REMOVE FRONT OUTER COWL TOP PANEL SUB-ASSEMBLY

  22. REMOVE AIR CLEANER INLET COVER ASSEMBLY SEAL

  23. REMOVE BATTERY 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 26

  24. REMOVE AIR CLEANER AND HOSE 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 7

  25. DISCONNECT FUEL VAPOR FEED HOSE ASSEMBLY 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 30

  26. DISCONNECT WATER BY-PASS HOSE 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 8

  27. DISCONNECT NO. 2 WATER BY-PASS HOSE 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 9

  28. REMOVE INTAKE AIR SURGE TANK ASSEMBLY 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 5

  29. DISCONNECT NO. 1 RADIATOR HOSE 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 5

  30. DISCONNECT ENGINE WIRE 
    1. Remove the relay block cover.
    2. Disconnect the 3 connectors.

    3. Remove the nut.
    4. Using a screwdriver, disengage the 2 claws to separate the engine wire from the engine room relay block.
    5. Remove the 3 bolts to separate the engine wire and ground wire from the automatic transaxle assembly and vehicle body.
    6. Disengage the 3 clamps to separate the engine wire from the automatic transaxle assembly and vehicle body.
    7. Turn the lock lever and disconnect the ECM connector.

    8. Disengage the 3 clamps to separate the engine wire from the automatic transaxle assembly and vehicle body.
    9. Disconnect the duty vacuum switching valve connector.

    10. Disengage the clamp to separate the engine wire from the front engine mounting insulator assembly.
    11. Disconnect the park/neutral position switch connector.

    12. Disengage the clamp to separate the engine wire from the automatic transaxle assembly.
    13. Turn the lock lever and disconnect the TCM connector.

    14. Disengage the 4 clamps to separate the engine wire from the automatic transaxle assembly.
  31. REMOVE STARTER ASSEMBLY 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 5

  32. DISCONNECT TRANSMISSION CONTROL CABLE ASSEMBLY 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 29

  33. SEPARATE BREATHER PLUG HOSE 
    1. Disengage the clamp to separate the breather plug hose from the hose clamp.

  34. REMOVE OIL COOLER TUBE CLAMP 
    1. Disengage the 2 clamps to remove the oil cooler tube clamp from the No. 1 oil cooler inlet hose and No. 1 oil cooler outlet hose.

  35. DISCONNECT NO. 1 OIL COOLER OUTLET HOSE 
    1. Slide the hose clip and disconnect the No. 1 oil cooler outlet hose from the automatic transaxle assembly.

  36. DISCONNECT NO. 1 OIL COOLER INLET HOSE 
    1. Slide the hose clip and disconnect the No. 1 oil cooler inlet hose from the automatic transaxle assembly.

  37. REMOVE PROPELLER SHAFT WITH CENTER BEARING ASSEMBLY

  65. INSTALL ENGINE HANGERS 
    1. Install the No. 1 engine hanger and No. 2 engine hanger to the engine assembly with the 4 bolts.

  66. INSTALL ENGINE SUPPORT BRIDGE 
    1. Remove the bolt from the air conditioner tube and accessory assembly.

    2. Turn the hook connector counterclockwise and disconnect the air conditioner tube and accessory assembly.
    3. Remove the 2 O-rings from the air conditioner tube and accessory assembly.
      NOTE:

      Seal the openings of the disconnected parts using vinyl tape to prevent the entry of moisture and foreign matter.

    4. Install SST to the vehicle body as shown in the illustration.

      Make sure the fuse bolt is not deformed.

      NOTE:
      • Prevent SST from contacting the vehicle body or windshield.
      • Lightly shake SST by hand to make sure it is securely installed while performing work.
      • Set the support shafts on level surfaces.
    5. Turn the threaded portion of each support shaft to adjust its height and make the SST sub beams horizontal to the ground.

    6. Connect each chain to the division bar with the shackles at the position shown in the illustration.

    7. Connect the 4th link of the chain to the No. 1 engine hanger.
    8. Connect the 1st link of the chain to the No. 2 engine hanger.
    9. Make sure the distance between the chain block assembly and division bar is 50 mm (1.97 in.) or more.

    10. Adjust the position of the chain block assembly so that the chain is perpendicular to the SST main beam and sub beams as shown in the illustration.

      To prevent the engine with automatic transaxle assembly from falling, make sure that the dimension (A) and dimension (B) are equal.

    11. Tighten the 6 wing bolts and 2 bolts.

      Torque: 30 N*m (306 kgf*cm, 22 ft.*lbf) 

    12. Move the chain block assembly approximately 50 mm (1.97 in.) as shown in the illustration.

    13. Tighten the chain block assembly until it cannot be moved any further by hand.

      NOTE:
      • When suspending the engine with automatic transaxle assembly, do not tighten the chain block assembly more than 50 N*m (510 kgf*cm, 37 ft.*lbf).
      • Do not shake the engine with automatic transaxle assembly excessively while it is being suspended.
  67. INSTALL BELT 
    1. Install SST to the vehicle body as shown in the illustration.

    2. Using the SST ratchet buckle, tighten the SST belt until there is no slack.

  74. SUPPORT ENGINE ASSEMBLY

      WARNING:

      To prevent the engine with automatic transaxle assembly from falling while servicing, do not remove SST.

      NOTE:

      Make sure that there is a clearance between the engine oil pan assembly and engine lifter.

  75. REMOVE BELT 
    1. Remove SST from the vehicle body.

  76. SUPPORT AUTOMATIC TRANSAXLE ASSEMBLY 
    1. Support the automatic transaxle assembly with a transmission jack.
      NOTE:
      • In order to protect the automatic transaxle oil pan sub-assembly, place attachments on the transmission jack.
      • Make sure that the attachments and automatic transaxle oil pan sub-assembly are centered on the transmission jack.
      • To prevent the automatic transaxle oil pan sub-assembly from being deformed, do not place any attachments under the automatic transaxle oil pan sub-assembly.
  77. REMOVE FRONT DRIVE SHAFT ASSEMBLY RH

  78. REMOVE TRANSFER STIFFENER PLATE RH

  79. REMOVE AUTOMATIC TRANSAXLE ASSEMBLY 
    1. Remove the 11 bolts and automatic transaxle assembly from the engine assembly.

      NOTE:
      • Secure the automatic transaxle assembly to the transmission jack using a belt, etc. to prevent it from falling.
      • To prevent damage to the 2 knock pins, do not pry between the automatic transaxle assembly and engine assembly.
  80. REMOVE TORQUE CONVERTER ASSEMBLY 
    1. Remove the torque converter assembly from the automatic transaxle assembly.

      NOTE:

      Remove the torque converter assembly from the input shaft horizontally.

  81. REMOVE TRANSFER ASSEMBLY 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 9

  82. REMOVE FRONT ENGINE MOUNTING BRACKET 
    1. Remove the 2 bolts, nut and front engine mounting bracket from the automatic transaxle assembly.

    2. Using an E8 "TORX" socket wrench, remove the stud bolt from the automatic transaxle assembly.

  83. REMOVE TCM 
    1. Remove the 2 bolts and TCM from the automatic transaxle assembly.

  84. REMOVE WIRE HARNESS CLAMP BRACKET 
    1. Remove the 5 bolts and 5 wire harness clamp brackets from the automatic transaxle assembly.

  85. REMOVE NO. 1 TRANSMISSION CONTROL CABLE BRACKET 
    1. Remove the 2 bolts and No. 1 transmission control cable bracket from the automatic transaxle assembly.

  86. REMOVE SPEEDOMETER DRIVEN HOLE COVER SUB-ASSEMBLY 
    1. Remove the bolt and speedometer driven hole cover sub-assembly from the automatic transaxle assembly.

    2. Remove the O-ring from the speedometer driven hole cover sub-assembly.
  87. INSPECT TORQUE CONVERTER ASSEMBLY
