Remove/install front axle half - AR33.10-P-0200EW

    INSTALLATION NOTES
The suspension strut must be filled according to the specification.
Otherwise, the suspension strut be incipiently damaged and malfunction later on.
 
4.1 Switch off ignition and remove transmitter key from electronic ignition lock control unit MODEL 212, 218 (except 218.336/936)
with CODE 489 (AIRMATIC)
without CODE 889 (KEYLESS-GO)
 
4.2 Switch off ignition and remove transmitter key or KEYLESS-GO start/stop button from electronic ignition lock control unit MODEL 212, 218 (except 218.336/936)

5 Detach pressure line from left or right suspension strut MODEL 212, 218 (except 218.336/936)

6 Remove left or right wheel and tire assembly

8.1 Remove lower engine compartment paneling MODEL 212 with ENGINE 156, 271, 272, 273, 274

9 Remove rear section of fender liner from left or right front fender    
10 Disconnect electrical connections from front axle in left or right wheel well   AR33.10-P-0100-06CW 
11 Remove brake line from left or right front brake hose (1)   AR42.10-P-0013EW
12 Remove left or right torsion bar linkage (2) from torsion bar (3) IMPORTANT If necessary, counterhold ball head bolt with internal Torx.
TORQUE SPECIFICATION Nut, link rod to stabilizer bar

Installation:  Mount and tighten the nut of the tie rod (4) on the steering knuckle (5) only after installing the bracket (10).

17.2 Remove bracket of right front level sensor linkage from cross strut (8) MODEL 212, 218 (except 218.336/936)

18 Remove left or right strut rod (7) from front axle carrier (6) MODEL 212, 218 (except 218.336/936)

21 Tip left or right steering knuckle (5) to one side and pull front axle shaft out of wheel hub while doing so MODEL 212, 218 (except 218.336/936)

    NOTES
Pull out front axle shaft carefully.
Otherwise, the seal bellows on the front axle shaft may be damaged.
 
22 Secure front-axle half with telescopic lifter to prevent it from falling down Transmission jack  
23 Remove bolts (9) on suspension strut tower and lower front-axle half TORQUE SPECIFICATION MODEL 212, 218 *BA32.25-P-1003-04M 
INSPECT Check     
24 Check cross strut (8) for damage and deformation In the event of damage or deformation:

Replace cross strut (8) on front axle.

25 Check strut rod (7) for damage and deformation In the event of damage or deformation:

Replace strut rod (7) on front axle.

26 Check spring strut for leaks and damage If damaged or leaking:
