Remove/install front axle - AR33.10-P-0100EW

DANGER Risk of death  caused by vehicle slipping or toppling off of the lifting platform. Align vehicle between vehicle lift columns and position the four support plates at the vehicle lift support points specified by the vehicle manufacturer. AS00.00-Z-0010-01A
DANGER Risk of injury  to skin or eyes from hydraulic fluid spraying out under pressure. Risk of poisoning  from swallowing hydraulic fluid. Depressurize hydraulic system completely before starting any work on it. Wear protective clothing and safety glasses. AS00.00-Z-0013-01A

REMOVINGINSTALLING Remove/install     
1 Deactivate easy entry/exit feature MODEL 212, 218 (except 218.336/936)
with CODE 275 (Memory package)
 
2 Extend the adjustable steering column fully or pull out    
3 Move front wheels to straight-ahead position and secure steering wheel NOTES
The steering wheel must not be turned when the steering coupling (7) has been detached. The clock spring contact may be destroyed otherwise.

24 Remove bracket (32) together with oil filter (33) from front axle carrier (10) and place to one side with connected oil lines MODEL 212, 218 (except 218.336/936) with TRANSMISSION 725  
25.1 Detach electrical connection (7a) from speed-sensitive power steering solenoid valve (Y10) and unclip the retaining clip from the front axle carrier (10) MODEL 212

25.2 Disconnect electrical connections (29) from steering gear and remove related wiring harness from front axle carrier (10) MODEL 212

26 Remove bolt (15) from bracket of hydraulic line to front axle carrier (10) MODEL 212

27 Remove bolt (27) from steering gear MODEL 212

    TORQUE SPECIFICATION High pressure and low-pressure hoses to rack-and-pinion steering housing *BA46.20-P-1004-01N 
28 Remove bolt (7b) and remove hydraulic lines from steering gear MODEL 212
without CODE 211 (Direct-Steer system)
INSTALLATION IMPORTANT Install new seals.
 
    TORQUE SPECIFICATION Bolt, clamp plate, high-pressure line/return line to rack-and-pinion steering control head *BA46.20-P-1003-01N 
29 Use suitable stop plugs to seal the previously-detached hydraulic lines and corresponding connection fitting on the steering gear MODEL 212
without CODE 211 (Direct-Steer system)

30 Release left and right longitudinal member panel in front area until the diagonal struts (4) can be removed    
31 Remove left and right diagonal strut (4) INSTALLATION IMPORTANT The bolts of the diagonal struts (4) may only be tightened once the vehicle wheels are on the ground.  
    TORQUE SPECIFICATION Bolt, diagonal strut mount to front axle carrier/longitudinal member *BA61.10-P-1004-01H

37 Lower front axle INSTALLATION IMPORTANT Check rubber supports (24) for radiator are correctly seated.  
38 Install in the reverse order
