Retrofit steering wheel heater - AN46.11-P-0001EW

REMOVING Remove     
1 Remove door sill molding on front left and rear left    
REFER TO TESTING & REPAIR AR68.30-P-4100EW
2 Remove left lower A-pillar trim (4)    
3 Remove cover below left of instrument panel    
4 Remove left lower B-pillar trim    
5 Remove center console    
REFER TO TESTING & REPAIR AR68.20-P-2000EW
6 Remove accelerator pedal    
REFER TO TESTING & REPAIR AR30.12-P-1321EW
7 Loosen bolts on rear of driver seat (3), remove bolts on front of driver seat (3) and detach front trim from guide rails    
REFER TO TESTING & REPAIR AR91.10-P-1000CW
8 Remove left front floor covering (2) IMPORTANT Observe routing of accelerator pedal wiring harness.  
9 Fix driver seat (3) in place with a bolt at the front    
10 Remove steering column tube switch module (5)    
REFER TO TESTING & REPAIR AR54.25-P-2802EW
IMPORTANT The steering column tube switch module (5) is no longer required.
11 Remove rear seat cushion MODEL 212.0/1  
REFER TO TESTING & REPAIR MODEL 212.0 with CODE 224 (Design individual rear seat system) AR91.12-P-1020EW

12 Remove left side bolster from rear seat backrest MODEL 212.0 with CODE 287 (Through-loading feature)  
REFER TO TESTING & REPAIR AR91.12-P-1710CW
13 Remove rear seat backrest MODEL 212.0/1 without CODE 287 (Through-loading feature)  
REFER TO TESTING & REPAIR MODEL 212.0/1 without CODE 224 (Design individual rear seat system) AR91.12-P-1620CW
REFER TO TESTING & REPAIR MODEL 210.0/1 with CODE 224 (Design individual rear seat system) AR91.12-P-1620EW
14 Remove rear left side paneling MODEL 212.0/1/2  
REFER TO TESTING & REPAIR MODEL 212.0/1 AR68.30-P-4780CW
15 Remove the RH panel in the trunk MODEL 212.0/1/2  
REFER TO TESTING & REPAIR MODEL 212.0/1 AR68.30-P-4600EW
16 Remove center paneling in trunk MODEL 212.0/1  
REFER TO TESTING & REPAIR AR68.30-P-4600EW
17 Remove rear SAM control unit with fuse and relay module and place to one side with electrical lines still connected

IMPORTANT Check in the EPC whether the rear SAM control unit with fuse and relay module installed corresponding to the vehicle equipment can be used for retrofitting the steering wheel heater.
If necessary, remove the rear SAM control unit with fuse and relay module and replace it with one that is compatible with the steering wheel heater.
INSTALLING Install     
18 Retrofit steering wheel heater power supply wiring harness MODEL 212.2 AN46.11-P-0001-01ES 
MODEL 212.0/1 AN46.11-P-0001-01EW 
19 Retrofit steering wheel heater wiring harness   AN46.11-P-0001-02EW 
20 Install remaining parts IMPORTANT Operation steps 17 to 11 and 9 to 4  
21 Change steering column tube switch module (5)   AN46.11-P-0001-04EW 
22 Install new steering column tube switch module (5)    
REFER TO TESTING & REPAIR AR54.25-P-2802EW
23 Install new steering wheel (1) with integrated steering wheel heater    
REFER TO TESTING & REPAIR AR46.10-P-0100EW
24 Retrofit steering wheel heater control unit (N25/7)   AN46.11-P-0001-03EW 
25 Install remaining parts IMPORTANT Operation steps 3 to 1  
26 Enter special equipment in online vehicle data card via vehicle documentation system (VeDoc) IMPORTANTAdd: 
  • CODE 443 (Steering wheel heater)
 
27 Document retrofitted equipment through VeDoc IMPORTANT Attach a note "Steering wheel heater retrofitted as per AN46.11-P-0001EW " under field organization texts for DG 46.  
28 Connect Star Diagnosis and select vehicle via the vehicle identification number (VIN)    
REFER TO SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEMS AD00.00-P-2000-04A
29 Perform variant coding with XENTRY using the software calibration number (SCN)    
30 Disconnect Star Diagnosis    
REFER TO SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEMS AD00.00-P-2000-04A
31 Perform function test of steering wheel heater
