Remove/install oil pan - AR01.45-P-7500ELS

REMOVINGINSTALLING Remove/install     
1 Remove left and right air filter housing   AR09.10-P-1150ELS
2 Remove engine compartment paneling   AR61.20-P-1105EW
3 Detach bracket for wiring harness guide ME-SFI [ME] control unit at vacuum pump and crash plate of the high-pressure pump ENGINE 276.8 in MODEL 207, 212, 218 with CODE 920 (Direct petrol injection with stratified charging)  
4 Drain engine oil and catch in a suitable container    
REFER TO MAINTENANCE     AP18.00-P-0101CWZ
5 Drain coolant at radiator MODEL 207 (except 207.367) with ENGINE 276.8
without CODE M005 (4MATIC)		 AR20.00-P-1142A
    MODEL 212 (except 212.095/195), 218 (except 218.367/368/967/968) with ENGINE 276.8 without CODE M005 (4MATIC) AR20.00-P-1142EL
6 Remove center section of bulkhead ENGINE 276.8 in MODEL 207, 212, 218 without CODE M005 (4MATIC)  
    ENGINE 276.8 in MODEL 212 (except 212.095/195)
without CODE M005 (4MATIC)		 AR61.25-P-6600EW
7 Unclip sensor for fresh air behind bulkhead and place to one side ENGINE 276.8 in MODEL 207, 212, 218 with CODE 920 (Direct petrol injection with stratified charging)  
8 Detach coolant hose at coolant temperature control housing ENGINE 276.8 in MODEL 207, 212 (except 212.095/195), 218  
    without CODE M005 (4MATIC) AR20.20-P-7441-01RQ
9 Disconnect electrical connections of oxygen sensors ENGINE 276.8 in MODEL 207, 212 AR07.52-P-5303ELS
    ENGINE 276.8 in MODEL 218 AR07.52-P-5303EL
10 Detach heat shield (10) ENGINE 276.8 in MODEL 207, 212, 218 without CODE 920 (Direct petrol injection with stratified charging)  
    TORQUE SPECIFICATION Bolt/nut for shield attachment *BA09.40-P-1011-01W 
11.1 Detach screw clamp (11) ENGINE 276.8 in MODEL 207, 212, 218 without CODE 920 (Direct petrol injection with stratified charging)
INSTALLATION IMPORTANT Replace seals between pipe and ATL.		  
    TORQUE SPECIFICATION Bolt, pipe clamp to exhaust gas turbocharger *BA49.10-P-1050-01AE 
11.2 Detach CATs on left and right on exhaust pipe ENGINE 276.8 in MODEL 207, 212, 218 with CODE 920 (Direct petrol injection with stratified charging)

12 Remove bracket (13) for CATs TORQUE SPECIFICATION Bolt, exhaust system bracket to transmission *BA49.10-P-1023-01AE 
13 Remove right catalytic converter    
14 Disconnect electrical connection (6) at oil level check switch    
15 Remove heat shield over starter ENGINE 276.8 in MODEL 212, 218 with CODE M005 (4MATIC)  
AR15.30-P-7100EL
16 Detach guide tube at left cylinder head cover and oil pan (5) and pull out from oil pan (5)   AR18.40-P-3510ELS
17 Remove front axle transmission (8) ENGINE 276.8 in MODEL 212, 218 with TRANSMISSION 722.96 with CODE M005 (4MATIC) AR33.30-P-0525CWX
18 Remove carrier front axle transmission (7) ENGINE 276.8 in MODEL 212 (except 212.095/195), 218 with TRANSMISSION 722.96
with CODE M005 (4MATIC)		  
TORQUE SPECIFICATION Collar bolt, support to oil pan *BA33.30-P-1011-03G 
19 Detach charge air cooler bracket (1) at oil pan (5) and charge air cooler   AR09.41-P-6819ELS
20 Remove charge air cooler bracket (1) downwards    
21 Detach guard plate (12) at steering gear and front axle carrier NOTES Bolt, cover panel to front axle carrier *BA33.10-P-1005-01M 
22 Detach all brackets for oil lines (2) from the oil pan (5) NOTES Do not kink or bend the oil lines (2).
Leaks and damage may occur otherwise.		  
23 Detach bracket for oil line at A/C compressor TRANSMISSION 722.9 (except 722.96/97) in MODEL 218 with ENGINE 276.8
TRANSMISSION 722.9 (except 722.96/97/995) in MODEL 212 with ENGINE 276.8
TRANSMISSION 722.9 (except 722.96/995) in MODEL 207 with ENGINE 276.8		 AR27.55-P-0600EV
24 Remove connecting clamp between right and left oil line TRANSMISSION 722.9 (except 722.96/97) in MODEL 218 with ENGINE 276.8
TRANSMISSION 722.9 (except 722.96/97/995) in MODEL 212 with ENGINE 276.8

25 Detach right oil line on transmission and press to the side TRANSMISSION 722.9 (except 722.96/97) in MODEL 218 with ENGINE 276.8

26 Mount engine hoist and raise engine until the engine mount is not under tension MODEL 207 with ENGINE 276.8 without CODE M005 (4MATIC) AR33.10-P-0105CW

NOTES Carefully lift engine and do not load oil lines (2) to the oil cooler on the cable.
The oil lines (2) or the oil cooler will be damaged otherwise.		 AR33.10-P-0105EW
27 Remove screw/bolts for engine mount at front axle carrier MODEL 207 with ENGINE 276.8 with TRANSMISSION 722.9

28 Lift engine ENGINE 276.8 in MODEL 207

29 Detach oil pan bottom section (4)   AR01.45-P-7500-04MM
IMPORTANT Notes on sealant path for oil pan   AH01.45-P-0001-01MMA
    INSTALLATION IMPORTANT Notes on sealant path for oil pan bottom section (4).  
    Loctite 5970 sealant *BR00.45-Z-1013-01A 
    TORQUE SPECIFICATION Bolt, oil pan bottom section to oil pan *BA01.45-P-1003-01E 
30 Detach oil suction pipe (9) ENGINE 276.8 in MODEL 207, 212 (except 212.095/195), 218
with CODE M005 (4MATIC)
INSTALLATION IMPORTANT Replace sealing ring.		  
    TORQUE SPECIFICATION Bolt, oil suction pipe to oil pan shaft channel *BA18.10-P-1006-01R 
31 Remove screw plug (3) from the oil pan (5) on the right and left ENGINE 276.8 in MODEL 207, 212 (except 212.095/195), 218 with TRANSMISSION 722.96
with CODE M005 (4MATIC)		  
    TORQUE SPECIFICATION Screw plug to oil pan *BA01.45-P-1006-01E 
32 Remove all screw/bolts from oil pan (5) INSTALLATION IMPORTANT Pay attention to different lengths of screw/bolts.  
    TORQUE SPECIFICATION Screw/bolt, oil pan to crankcase/timing case cover/rear end cover *BA01.45-P-1001-01E 
    TORQUE SPECIFICATION Screw/bolt, oil pan to crankcase at transmission end *BA01.45-P-1002-01E 
33 Unfasten oil pan (5) from crankcase and remove    
IMPORTANT Notes on sealant path for oil pan   AH01.45-P-0001-01MMA
    NOTES Do not drive in any tools between oil pan (5) and crankcase to loosen it; heat oil pan (5) in the area around the sealing surfaces if necessary.
The sealing surface will be damaged otherwise.
INSTALLATION IMPORTANT Observe notes on sealant path on the oil pan (5).		  
    Loctite 5970 sealant *BR00.45-Z-1013-01A 
34 Remove oil level check switch When replacing the oil pan (5)  
    MODEL 207 with ENGINE 276.8 AR18.40-P-5113FH
    MODEL 212, 218 with ENGINE 276.8 AR18.40-P-5113EL
CLEAN Clean     
35 Clean sealing surfaces on the oil pan (5) and crankcase   AR01.00-P-0050-01A
    NOTES Do not use any sharp-edged tools or abrasive paper.
The sealing surfaces can get damaged otherwise.		  
    Loctite 7200 *BR00.45-Z-1038-04A 
    Loctite 7063 cleaning spray (150 ml) *BR00.45-Z-1046-04A 
36 Install in the reverse order    
INSPECT Check     
37 Check engine oil level; correct if necessary

38 Check engine cooling system for leaktightness MODEL 207 with ENGINE 276.8 without CODE M005 (4MATIC) AR20.00-P-1010ELA
    MODEL 212, 218 with ENGINE 276.8 without CODE M005 (4MATIC) AR20.00-P-1010EL
DANGER Risk of accident  from vehicle starting off by itself when engine running. Risk of injury  (bruises and burns) resulting from working on the engine while it is being started or when it is running. Secure vehicle to prevent it from starting off by itself. Wear closed and snug-fitting work clothes. Do not touch hot or rotating parts. AS00.00-Z-0005-01A
39 Carry out engine test run, while doing so check the engine and transmission for leaktightness and proper function
