Remove/install timing case cover - AR01.40-P-8000ELS

REMOVINGINSTALLING Remove/install     
DANGER Risk of injury  to skin and eyes suffering scalding from contact with hot coolantspray. Risk of poisoning  from swallowing coolant. Do not open cooling system unless coolant temperature is below 90 °C. Open cap slowly and release the pressure. Do not pour coolant into beverage containers.
Wear protective gloves, protective clothing and safety glasses.		 AS20.00-Z-0001-01A
1 Drain coolant MODEL 207 AR20.00-P-1142A
NOTES Notes on coolant   AH20.00-N-2080-01A

2 Drain coolant in low-temperature circuit    
NOTES Notes on coolant IMPORTANT The stop plug for the low-temperature circuit is located in the low-temperature circuit hose package at the front right in the engine compartment. AH20.00-N-2080-01A
3 Remove right and left air filter housing   AR09.10-P-1150ELS
4 Remove both front covers MODEL 207, 212, 218  
Right cover, model 207, 212 AR01.30-P-5712ELS
Left cover, model 207, 212 AR01.30-P-5711ELS
5 Remove charge air cooler   AR09.41-P-6819ELS
6 Remove belt pulley/vibration damper (5) MODEL 207 AR03.30-P-1600FH
MODEL 212, 218 AR03.30-P-1600EL
7 Remove oil pan (3)   AR01.45-P-7500ELS
8 Disconnect electrical connection for engine oil pump valve on oil pump    
9 Remove coolant pump (4) MODEL 207 AR20.10-P-1271FH
MODEL 212, 218 AR20.10-P-1271EL
10 Remove screw/bolts (7) for the cylinder head (2) at timing case cover (1) IMPORTANT Remove screw/bolts (7) and fix with a cable tie (01).  
    TORQUE SPECIFICATION Bolt, cylinder head to timing case cover *BA01.30-P-1002-01W 
11 Remove oil filter element    
REFER TO MAINTENANCE     AP18.00-P-0101CWZ
12 Remove tensioning device (10) on poly-V belt   AR13.20-P-0001ELS
13 Detach alternator from engine and place with attached lines to one side and secure against falling down MODEL 207 AR15.40-P-5032ELA
MODEL 212, 218
IMPORTANT Place alternator to one side and secure against falling down.		 AR15.40-P-5032EL
14 Disconnect electrical connection for engine oil pump valve on timing case cover (1)    
15 Unclip electrical line (9) for engine oil pump valve on timing case cover (1) and place to the side    
16 Detach A/C compressor from engine, place to one side and secure against falling down IMPORTANT Do not separate refrigerant lines.  
TORQUE SPECIFICATION Bolt, refrigerant compressor to timing case/crankcase/engine support *BA83.55-P-1001-01M 
17 Remove screw/bolts of timing case cover (1)   AR01.40-P-8000-01MMA 
INSTALLATION IMPORTANT Pay attention to different screw/bolt lengths and screw/bolt diameters.
TORQUE SPECIFICATION Bolt, timing case cover to cylinder crankcase		 *BA01.40-P-1001-01K 
18 Detach timing case cover (1)    
IMPORTANT Notes on sealant path for timing case cover   AH01.40-P-1000-01MMA
INSTALLATION IMPORTANT Replace both seals in timing case cover (1) and apply sealant on sealing surface of the timing case cover (1):
INSTALLATION IMPORTANT The front crankshaft radial shaft sealing ring must be replaced.
Replace from crankshaft radial shaft sealing ring
↓

CLEAN Clean     
19 Clean sealing surfaces   AR01.00-P-0050-01A
NOTES One must not use sharp-edged tooling or abrasive paper.
The sealing surfaces can get damaged otherwise.		  
Loctite 7063 cleaning spray (150 ml) *BR00.45-Z-1046-04A 
Loctite 7200 *BR00.45-Z-1038-04A 
20 Install in the reverse order    
21 Check engine oil level; correct if necessary    
REFER TO MAINTENANCE     AP18.00-P-0101CWZ
22 Check cooling system for leaktightness MODEL 207 AR20.00-P-1010ELA
MODEL 212, 218 AR20.00-P-1010EL
DANGER Risk of accident  from vehicle starting off by itself when engine running. Risk of injury  (bruises and burns) resulting from working on the engine while it is being started or when it is running. Secure vehicle to prevent it from starting off by itself. Wear closed and snug-fitting work clothes. Do not touch hot or rotating parts. AS00.00-Z-0005-01A
23 Carry out an engine test run and check engine for leaktightness
