8 Remove engine compartment lining at front, center and rear.   AR61.20-P-1105LWE
9 Secure radiator package (1) against falling down using tensioning strap (2). NOTES
Do not tighten tensioning strap (2) too far. Otherwise the components can be damaged.
 
10 Remove left and right bolt (14), fold up radiator mounts at front (13) and remove from struts (7). If the radiator package (1) is in the front installation position.
INSTALLATION IMPORTANT Make sure that the front radiator mounts (13) are correctly seated.
 
11 Remove refrigerant line (3) from condenser (5), hang to one side and seal connections with suitable stop plugs.    
REFER TO CAPACITIES & SPECIFICATIONS Compressor oils (specification 362.1) INSTALLATION IMPORTANT Replace sealing rings and moisten with compressor oil. BB00.40-P-0362-01A
TORQUE SPECIFICATION Nut/bolt, refrigerant line to condenser *BA83.30-P-1006-01R

12 Remove hub cap from corresponding front wheel. If the front wheel has to be removed for this purpose, remove corresponding front wheel, then mount again. AR40.10-P-1102A
13 Release bolt for front axle shaft to wheel hub. TORQUE SPECIFICATION Screw/bolt, front axle shaft to wheel hub *BA33.30-P-1001-02H 
14 Remove corresponding front wheel.   AR40.10-P-1102A
15 Remove screw fastening front axle shaft to wheel hub. INSTALLATION IMPORTANT Replace bolt. Slightly tighten screw by hand.  
16 Remove front right brakepad wear sensor electrical connector and hang to one side. TORQUE SPECIFICATION Bolt, brake wear sensor to brake caliper *BA42.10-P-1002-10X 
17.1 Remove brake calipers with brakepads and secure at vehicle with attached brake hoses free of tension. For fixed-caliper brake.

17.2 Remove brake calipers with brake caliper supports and secure at vehicle with connected brake hoses free of tension. With floating caliper brake.

19 Remove holders of electrical wiring harnesses from spring links and axle carrier and place to one side. Model 213 (except 213.088/089/288/289) with code M005 (Vehicles with 4MATIC/all-wheel drive)  
20 Remove torsion bar linkages from spring links. Model 213 (except 213.088/089/288/289) except code M005 (Vehicles with 4MATIC/all-wheel drive) AR32.35-P-3328LW
21 Remove left and right rpm sensor line bracket from front axle carrier and hang to one side with connected electric lines. Model 213 (except 213.061/088/089/261/288/289) except code M005 (Vehicles with 4MATIC/all-wheel drive) AR42.30-P-0712LW
22 Detach steering knuckles from upper transverse control arms and secure to strut rod with tensioning strap (25). NOTES
The steering knuckles must not fold outwards after they are detached from the upper transverse control arms. Otherwise ball joints may be damaged.
NOTES
Counterhold the ball heads and do not use an impact wrench/driver. Otherwise the ball heads or the steering knuckles will be damaged.
IMPORTANT Model 213 (except 213.088/089/288/289) with transmission 725.0 with code M005 (Vehicles with 4MATIC/all-wheel drive)
Installation:  Fasten the steering knuckles to the upper transverse control arms with cable ties only.

23 Disconnect steering coupling. Model 213 (except 213.088/089/288/289) except code 700 (Vehicle production location China) AR46.10-P-8000-01LW

Do not twist steering wheel when the steering coupling was removed. Otherwise the clock spring contact will be destroyed.

30 Remove coolant circulation pump with holder from right radiator mount (6) and hang to one side with connected lines. If the radiator package (1) is in the rear installation position and the coolant circulation pump with the holder is installed.  
31 Lift engine using engine support fixture until the guide pins of the engine mount fully extend out of the axle carrier.    
32 Position lifting platform (24) at front axle (4) and secure front axle (4) using tensioning strap (23).

33 Remove holders of engine compartment lining from struts (7).    
34 Remove screws (19).    
35 Remove screws (20) of front axle (4).    
  Notes on bolted connections with self tapping screws.   AH00.00-P-0007-01SF
    TORQUE SPECIFICATION Bolt, front axle carrier to longitudinal member *BA33.10-P-1001-01Q 
36 Release air duct segments (8) and fold inward. INSTALLATION IMPORTANT Pay attention to the positioning of the outside temperature sensor (B14).  
37 Lower front axle (4) slightly. NOTES
Note radiator package (1) when lowering. Otherwise it may be damaged.
 
38 Push spring links downward and position suspension struts in front of spring links. NOTES
Carefully position the suspension struts in front of the spring control arms. Otherwise the suspension strut joints can be damaged.
 
39 Mark struts (7) relative to front axle (4) with colored pencil.    
40.1 Remove left and right bolts (18). If the radiator package (1) is in the front installation position.  
    TORQUE SPECIFICATION Bolt, strut (impact absorber) to front axle carrier *BA33.10-P-1003-01Q 
40.2 Unscrew left and right bolts (18) and remove rear radiator mounts (6). If the radiator package (1) is in the rear installation position.
INSTALLATION IMPORTANT Make sure that the elastomer bearings (22) are seated correctly.
 
    TORQUE SPECIFICATION Bolt, strut (impact absorber) to front axle carrier *BA33.10-P-1003-01Q 
41 Pull front axle (4) slightly towards rear and remove struts (7). INSTALLATION IMPORTANT Note the previously made markings when inserting the struts (7).  
42 Fully lower front axle (4). NOTES
Carefully lower front axle (4). Otherwise adjacent components may be damaged.
 
43 Install in the reverse order.    
44 Perform chassis alignment.   AR40.20-P-0200LW
