Installing the complete front axle with the engine and manual transmission (rear wheel drive)
WARNING:
Vehicle may slip off the vehicle hoist if the vehicle hoist is handled incorrectly. Danger! Immobilization period-threatening injuries!
- Observe safety instructions on raising the vehicle using a vehicle hoist.

- Position the lifting table (1)
with the engine under the vehicle.
The marks made during removal (arrows) on the workshop floor are used as positioning aid.

Heavy components can lead to injury or damage .- Remove and install heavy components with the aid of another person/other persons.
- Raise the lifting table (1)
in arrow direction
and pay attention to the free movement
of all components.
- Keep special tool 2 414 636
at hand.
- Spread the swivel bearing (1) in arrow direction with the special tool 2 414 636 .
- Feed in the swivel bearing (1) at the spring strut (2) and position it correctly.
- Remove the special tool 2 414 636
.
- Spread the swivel bearing (1) with the special tool 2 414 636 in arrow direction .
- Feed in the swivel bearing (1) at the spring strut (2) and position it correctly.
- Remove the special tool 2 414 636
.
- Make sure that the installation position of the spring strut (1)
and the swivel bearing (2)
in the marked area (3)
is correct.
- Tighten the screw (1)
on the front outer rear left
.TIGHTENING TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS
Front subframe to outer body at the rear M10 Replace screws. Tightening torque 56 Nm Angle of rotation 90° - Tighten the screw (2)
on the front subframe (3)
on the inner rear left
.TIGHTENING TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS
Front axle carrier to body, rear M14 Replace screws. Tightening torque 120 Nm - Tighten the screw (1)
on the front subframe (3)
on the outer right rear
.TIGHTENING TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS
Front subframe to outer body at the rear M10 Replace screws. Tightening torque 56 Nm Angle of rotation 90° - Tighten the screw (2)
on the front subframe (3) on the inner right rear
.TIGHTENING TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS
Front axle carrier to body, rear M14 Replace screws. Tightening torque 120 Nm - Tighten the screw (1)
on the front subframe (2) on the right front
.TIGHTENING TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS
Front subframe on front/center of body M12 Replace screws. Tightening torque 108 Nm - Tighten the screw (1)
on the front subframe (2) on the left front

on the front subframe (2) at the left front

Adapter, front axle support to front axle support M8x70 Tightening torque 19 Nm - Tighten the screws (1)
on the front subframe (2) at the right front
.TIGHTENING TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS
Adapter, front axle support to front axle support M8x70 Tightening torque 19 Nm - Release the lug bolts (2) at the left front .
- Release the adjustment screw (3) and feed out the mount (1) and set aside.
- Release the lug bolts (2) at the right front .
- Release the adjustment screw (3) and feed out the mount (1) and set aside.
- Slowly lower the lifting table and set aside.
- Tighten the screw (1)
on the front subframe (2) at the left center
with a commercially available tool (3)
.TIGHTENING TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS
Front subframe on front/center of body M12 Replace screws. Tightening torque 108 Nm - Tighten the screw (1) on the front subframe (2) at the right center with a commercially available tool (3) .
