Instrument Panel Assembly: Removal

CAUTION:
  • Before handling the airbag system components, refer to "CAUTION" of "General Description" in "AIRBAG SYSTEM". Ref. to AIRBAG SYSTEM>GENERAL DESCRIPTION>CAUTION .
  • Be careful not to damage the airbag system harness when servicing the instrument panel. Damage may cause the system to malfunction.
  1. Disconnect the ground terminal from the battery sensor, and wait for at least 60 seconds before starting work. Ref. to REPAIR CONTENTS>NOTE>BATTERY .
  2. Remove the boot assembly parking brake and the console box assembly. Ref. to EXTERIOR/INTERIOR TRIM>CONSOLE BOX>REMOVAL .
  3. Remove the cover center side. Ref. to EXTERIOR/INTERIOR TRIM>CENTER CONSOLE>REMOVAL .
  4. Remove the cover LWR driver INN and cover LWR driver OUT. Ref. to EXTERIOR/INTERIOR TRIM>INSTRUMENT PANEL LOWER COVER>REMOVAL .
  5. Remove the cover assembly instrument panel side RH and the panel center UPR assembly. Ref. to AIR CONDITIONER>AIR VENT GRILLE>REMOVAL>CENTER GRILLE .
  6. Remove the center information display assembly. Ref. to ENTERTAINMENT & MONITORING>COCKPIT DISPLAY>REMOVAL .
  7. Remove the heater control assembly. Ref. to AIR CONDITIONER>CONTROL PANEL>REMOVAL .
  8. Remove the pocket COMPL. Ref. to EXTERIOR/INTERIOR TRIM>GLOVE BOX>REMOVAL>GLOVE BOX LID .
  9. Remove the panel instrument passenger. Ref. to EXTERIOR/INTERIOR TRIM>GLOVE BOX>REMOVAL>BACK PANEL .
  10. Remove the knee airbag module assembly. Ref. to AIRBAG SYSTEM>KNEE AIRBAG MODULE>REMOVAL .
  11. Remove the grille ventilation side RH and grille ventilation side LH. Ref. to AIR CONDITIONER>AIR VENT GRILLE>REMOVAL>SIDE GRILLE .
  12. Remove the combination meter assembly. Ref. to INSTRUMENTATION/DRIVER INFO>COMBINATION METER>REMOVAL .
  13. Remove the speaker assembly sound creator. Ref. to ACTIVE SOUND CONTROL>ACTIVE SOUND CONTROL SPEAKER>REMOVAL .
  14. Remove the grille speaker side and the speaker assembly instrument panel. Ref. to ENTERTAINMENT & MONITORING>FRONT SPEAKER>REMOVAL .
  15. Remove the cover side sill front Rr and the cover side sill front Ft. Ref. to EXTERIOR/INTERIOR TRIM>LOWER INNER TRIM>REMOVAL .
  16. Remove the weather strip body side flange front. Ref. to EXTERIOR BODY PANELS>WEATHER STRIP>REPLACEMENT .
  17. Remove the trim panel assembly A pillar. Ref. to EXTERIOR/INTERIOR TRIM>UPPER INNER TRIM>REMOVAL>A PILLAR TRIM .
  18. Remove the grille front defroster. Ref. to LIGHTING SYSTEM>LIGHT CONTROL SENSOR>REMOVAL .
  19. Remove the instrument panel assembly.
    1. Disconnect the passenger's airbag module connector. Ref. to AIRBAG SYSTEM>AIRBAG CONNECTOR>PROCEDURE>PASSENGER'S AIRBAG MODULE .
    2. Remove the bolts of the passenger's airbag module.

    3. Remove the slit tape (a), and then remove the GPS antenna assembly and the telematics sub antenna assembly cord.
    4. Remove the harness clips and clamps.

    5. Remove the front antenna assembly interior. Ref. to SECURITY AND LOCKS>KEYLESS ACCESS INDOOR ANTENNA>REMOVAL>FRONT ANTENNA .
    6. Disconnect the feeder assembly cord connector.

    7. Remove the bolts and screws.

    8. Remove the instrument panel assembly.
  20. Remove the beam steering COMPL.
    1. Remove the following parts.
    2. Disconnect all harness clips and connectors of the instrument panel harness.
    3. Remove the ground bolts of the instrument panel harness.
    4. Using the TORX® T40, remove the TORX® bolts.
    5. Remove the bolt.

    6. Using the hexagon wrench, loosen the adjuster portion (a) of the adjuster clip space. (LH side of the beam steering COMPL)

    7. Remove the beam steering COMPL and instrument panel harness as a unit by slightly lifting them up and then pulling them toward you to detach the pins on the vehicle side.
NOTE:
  • Check that all lock points for the harness clips, harness connectors and the beam steering COMPL have been released.
  • The beam steering COMPL is heavy. Work in a team of two persons when removing them from the vehicle, so as not to damage the vehicle interior.
