Instrument Panel Assembly: Removal
CAUTION:
- Before handling the airbag system components, refer to "CAUTION" of "General Description" in "AIRBAG SYSTEM". Ref. to AIRBAG SYSTEM>GENERAL DESCRIPTION>CAUTION .
- Be careful not to damage the airbag system harness when servicing the instrument panel. Damage may cause the system to malfunction.
- Disconnect the ground terminal from the battery sensor, and wait for at least 60 seconds before starting work. Ref. to REPAIR CONTENTS>NOTE>BATTERY .
- Remove the boot assembly parking brake and the console box assembly. Ref. to EXTERIOR/INTERIOR TRIM>CONSOLE BOX>REMOVAL .
- Remove the cover center side. Ref. to EXTERIOR/INTERIOR TRIM>CENTER CONSOLE>REMOVAL .
- Remove the cover LWR driver INN and cover LWR driver OUT. Ref. to EXTERIOR/INTERIOR TRIM>INSTRUMENT PANEL LOWER COVER>REMOVAL .
- Remove the cover assembly instrument panel side RH and the panel center UPR assembly. Ref. to AIR CONDITIONER>AIR VENT GRILLE>REMOVAL>CENTER GRILLE .
- Remove the center information display assembly. Ref. to ENTERTAINMENT & MONITORING>COCKPIT DISPLAY>REMOVAL .
- Remove the heater control assembly. Ref. to AIR CONDITIONER>CONTROL PANEL>REMOVAL .
- Remove the pocket COMPL. Ref. to EXTERIOR/INTERIOR TRIM>GLOVE BOX>REMOVAL>GLOVE BOX LID .
- Remove the panel instrument passenger. Ref. to EXTERIOR/INTERIOR TRIM>GLOVE BOX>REMOVAL>BACK PANEL .
- Remove the knee airbag module assembly. Ref. to AIRBAG SYSTEM>KNEE AIRBAG MODULE>REMOVAL .
- Remove the grille ventilation side RH and grille ventilation side LH. Ref. to AIR CONDITIONER>AIR VENT GRILLE>REMOVAL>SIDE GRILLE .
- Remove the combination meter assembly. Ref. to INSTRUMENTATION/DRIVER INFO>COMBINATION METER>REMOVAL .
- Remove the speaker assembly sound creator. Ref. to ACTIVE SOUND CONTROL>ACTIVE SOUND CONTROL SPEAKER>REMOVAL .
- Remove the grille speaker side and the speaker assembly instrument panel. Ref. to ENTERTAINMENT & MONITORING>FRONT SPEAKER>REMOVAL .
- Remove the cover side sill front Rr and the cover side sill front Ft. Ref. to EXTERIOR/INTERIOR TRIM>LOWER INNER TRIM>REMOVAL .
- Remove the weather strip body side flange front. Ref. to EXTERIOR BODY PANELS>WEATHER STRIP>REPLACEMENT .
- Remove the trim panel assembly A pillar. Ref. to EXTERIOR/INTERIOR TRIM>UPPER INNER TRIM>REMOVAL>A PILLAR TRIM .
- Remove the grille front defroster. Ref. to LIGHTING SYSTEM>LIGHT CONTROL SENSOR>REMOVAL .
- Remove the instrument panel assembly.
- Disconnect the passenger's airbag module connector. Ref. to AIRBAG SYSTEM>AIRBAG CONNECTOR>PROCEDURE>PASSENGER'S AIRBAG MODULE .
- Remove the bolts of the passenger's airbag module.
- Remove the slit tape (a), and then remove the GPS antenna assembly and the telematics sub antenna assembly cord.
- Remove the harness clips and clamps.
- Remove the front antenna assembly interior. Ref. to SECURITY AND LOCKS>KEYLESS ACCESS INDOOR ANTENNA>REMOVAL>FRONT ANTENNA .
- Disconnect the feeder assembly cord connector.
- Remove the bolts and screws.
- Remove the instrument panel assembly.
- Remove the beam steering COMPL.
- Remove the following parts.
- F/B and body integrated unit: Ref. to BODY CONTROL/COMMUNICATION SYSTEM>BODY INTEGRATED UNIT>REMOVAL .
- Central gateway Control Module: Ref. to BODY CONTROL/COMMUNICATION SYSTEM>CENTRAL GATEWAY CONTROL MODULE>REMOVAL .
- Keyless access Control Module: Ref. to SECURITY AND LOCKS>KEYLESS ACCESS CONTROL MODULE>REMOVAL .
- Sound control assembly: Ref. to ACTIVE SOUND CONTROL>ACTIVE SOUND CONTROL CONTROL MODULE>REMOVAL .
- EyeSight security gateway Control Module: Ref. to EYESIGHT>EYESIGHT SECURITY GATEWAY CONTROL MODULE>REMOVAL .
- Column assembly steering: Ref. to POWER ASSISTED SYSTEM (POWER STEERING)>STEERING COLUMN>REMOVAL .
- Disconnect all harness clips and connectors of the instrument panel harness.
- Remove the ground bolts of the instrument panel harness.
- Using the TORX® T40, remove the TORX® bolts.
- Remove the bolt.
- Using the hexagon wrench, loosen the adjuster portion (a) of the adjuster clip space. (LH side of the beam steering COMPL)
- Remove the beam steering COMPL and instrument panel harness as a unit by slightly lifting them up and then pulling them toward you to detach the pins on the vehicle side.
- Remove the following parts.
NOTE:
- Check that all lock points for the harness clips, harness connectors and the beam steering COMPL have been released.
- The beam steering COMPL is heavy. Work in a team of two persons when removing them from the vehicle, so as not to damage the vehicle interior.
