Retrofit media interface - AN82.60-P-0016EWA

REMOVING Remove     
1 Remove glove box

2 Remove radio

3 Remove floor mat (1) from front passenger footwell    
4 Fold back floor covering (2) in front passenger footwell    
5 Unscrew nuts (arrows), remove footrest (4), fold toward rear and set down on floor covering (2) with electrical lines connected NOTES Handle footrest (4) carefully.
Otherwise damage to the electrical lines may occur.
 
6 Remove right front door sill and right rear door sill

7 Remove A-pillar paneling at bottom right    
8 Remove right lower B-pillar paneling    
9 Remove center console (5)

10 Remove dummy cover for Media Interface electrical connector cutout (X18/70) in center console (5) IMPORTANT Dummy cover is no longer required.  
11.1 Remove right side bolster from rear seat backrest Model 212.2

11.2 Remove right side bolster from rear seat backrest MODEL 212.0 with CODE 287 (Through-loading feature)

11.3 Remove rear seat backrest MODEL 212.0 without CODE 287 (Through-loading feature)

12.1 Remove right side paneling from trunk MODEL 212.0

12.2 Remove right side trim in load compartment Model 212.2

13 Remove rear SAM control module with fuse and relay module

    IMPORTANT Check in the EPC in design group 99 whether the rear SAM control unit with fuse and relay module installed in accordance with the vehicle equipment can be used for retrofitting the Media Interface. If necessary, the rear SAM control unit with fuse and relay module is to be removed and replaced with one compatible with the Media Interface. If the rear SAM control unit with fuse and relay module does not need to be replaced, simply detach it and place to one side with electrical lines connected.  
INSTALLING Install     
14 Install optical fiber for Media Oriented System Transport (MOST) Vehicles except CODE 537 (Digital radio) except CODE 810 (Sound system) except CODE 863 (Digital/analog TV tuner) AN82.61-P-0001-06ELX

15 Prepare media interface power supply wiring harness   AN82.60-P-0016-04EWA

20 Connect diagnostic system and select vehicle via the vehicle identification number (VIN)

21 Enter special equipment in online vehicle data card via vehicle documentation system (VeDoc) INSTALLATION IMPORTANT • Code (518) Media interface  
22 Document retrofitted equipment through VeDoc IMPORTANT Attach note "Media Interface retrofitted as per AN82.60-P-0016EWA " under field organization texts to design group 82.  
23 Perform variant coding with XENTRY using the software calibration number (SCN) IMPORTANT Variant coding with XENTRY using the software calibration number (SCN) must be carried out for the following control unit: • Media interface control unit (N125/1)  
24 Disconnect diagnostic system

25 Perform function test with an external audio source
