DANGER Risk of death  caused by vehicle slipping or toppling off of the lifting platform. Align vehicle between vehicle lift columns and position the four support plates at the vehicle lift support points specified by the vehicle manufacturer. AS00.00-Z-0010-01A

REMOVINGINSTALLING Remove/install     
1 Deactivate easy entry and exit feature.    
2 Turn wheel and tire assembly of front axle to straight-ahead position and fix steering wheel in place with holding device. NOTES
Do not turn steering wheel when steering coupling is removed.
Otherwise, the clock spring contact will be damaged.

3 Move automatic transmission to neutral position and release parking brake.    
4 Vent pressure from air springs using diagnostic system. Model 290 with engine 177

14 Drain engine oil.

21 Unclip electric lines of suspension struts from spring links and steering knuckles and place to one side.    
22 Remove brake calipers from steering knuckles, secure with connected brake hoses to vehicle so that they are free of tension and secure against falling down. Engine 177 in model 290

74 Lower engine-transmission unit with front axle carrier. NOTES
Ensure that engine does not touch any body panels or major assemblies and that no lines are pinched.
Otherwise damage will occur.
 
    IMPORTANT Aid of helper required.  
75 Install in the reverse order.    
76 Check oil level of engine and correct.
