Headliner Removal/Installation

  1. Disconnect the negative battery terminal. (See NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL DISCONNECTION/CONNECTION .)
  2. Remove the following parts:
    1. Sunroof seaming welt (with sunroof system) (See SUNROOF UNIT REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
    2. A-pillar trim (See A-PILLAR TRIM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
    3. Sunvisor (See SUNVISOR REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
    4. Front map light (See FRONT MAP LIGHT REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
    5. Assist handle (See ASSIST HANDLE REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
    6. Selector lever knob (See AUTOMATIC TRANSAXLE SHIFT MECHANISM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
    7. Shift panel (See SHIFT PANEL REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
    8. Console side panel (See CONSOLE SIDE PANEL REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
    9. Front console (See FRONT CONSOLE REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
    10. Glove compartment (See GLOVE COMPARTMENT REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
    11. Dashboard under cover (See DASHBOARD UNDER COVER REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
    12. Passenger-side decoration panel (See DECORATION PANEL REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
    13. Front scuff plate (See FRONT SCUFF PLATE REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
    14. Rear scuff plate (See REAR SCUFF PLATE REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
    15. Front side trim (See FRONT SIDE TRIM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
    16. Hood release lever (See HOOD RELEASE LEVER AND RELEASE CABLE REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
    17. Fuel-filler lid opener lever (See FUEL-FILLER LID OPENER AND LEVER REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
    18. Driver-side lower panel (See DRIVER-SIDE LOWER PANEL REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
    19. Passenger-side lower panel (See PASSENGER-SIDE LOWER PANEL REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
    20. B-pillar lower trim (See B-PILLAR LOWER TRIM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
    21. Adjust anchor cover on the front seat belt (See FRONT SEAT BELT REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
    22. Upper anchor installation bolt on the front seat belt (See FRONT SEAT BELT REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
    23. B-pillar upper trim (See B-PILLAR UPPER TRIM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
    24. Trunk covering (See TRUNK COVERING REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
    25. Trunk board (See TRUNK BOARD REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
    26. Trunk side pocket (See TRUNK SIDE POCKET REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
    27. Trunk end trim (See TRUNK END TRIM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
    28. Third-row seat cushion (See THIRD-ROW SEAT CUSHION REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
    29. Third-row seat back component (See THIRD-ROW SEAT BACK COMPONENT REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
    30. Trunk side trim (See TRUNK SIDE TRIM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
    31. D-pillar trim (See D-PILLAR TRIM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
    32. Upper anchor installation bolt on the second-row seat belt (See SECOND-ROW SEAT BELT REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
    33. C-pillar trim (See C-PILLAR TRIM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
  3. Remove the clips A and clips B in the position shown in the figure.

  4. Disconnect the connectors.
  5. Pull the roof wiring harness out from the A-pillar side.

  6. Disconnect the rear washer hose C. (See REAR WASHER HOSE REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
  7. Affix protective tape to the position shown in the figure.

  8. Fully recline the front seats.
  9. Lower the second-row seat back.
  10. Temporarily install the seaming welt shown in the figure to the headliner.
    CAUTION:
    • If fasteners are removed without temporarily installing the seaming welt, the headliner may fall off and the part may be damaged. Before removing fasteners, temporarily install the seaming welt to prevent the headliner from falling off.

  11. Remove the fasteners.

  12. Partially peel back the weather strip.
  13. Peel back the seaming welt and place the headliner on the seats.
  14. Take the headliner out from the opened liftgate.

  15. Install in the reverse order of removal.
