D-Pillar Trim Removal/Installation

  1. Disconnect the negative battery terminal. (See NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL DISCONNECTION/CONNECTION .)
  2. Remove the following parts:
    1. Trunk covering (See TRUNK COVERING REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
    2. Trunk board (See TRUNK BOARD REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
    3. Trunk side pocket (See TRUNK SIDE POCKET REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
    4. Trunk end trim (See TRUNK END TRIM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
    5. Rear scuff plate (See REAR SCUFF PLATE REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
    6. Third-row seat cushion (See THIRD-ROW SEAT CUSHION REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
    7. Third-row seat back component (See THIRD-ROW SEAT BACK COMPONENT REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
    8. Trunk side trim (See TRUNK SIDE TRIM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
    9. Lower anchor installation bolt on the third-row seat belt (See THIRD-ROW SEAT BELT REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
  3. Partially peel back the seaming welt.

  4. Remove the fasteners.

  5. Pull the D-pillar trim in the direction of the arrow while detaching clip A.

  6. Cut the lead wire connecting clip B and grommet using a nipper.

  7. Slide the D-pillar trim in the direction of the arrow shown in the figure and detach clip A and B from the body panel.

  8. Remove the D-pillar trim.
  9. Remove the clip A.

  10. Rotate the clip B in the direction of the arrow shown in the figure and remove it.
  11. Install the clip A and clip B to the D-pillar trim.
  12. Move the hook in the direction of arrow shown in the figure using a tape-wrapped flathead screwdriver and detach it from the inner panel.

  13. Move the hook in the direction of arrow (1) shown in the figure using a tape-wrapped flathead screwdriver and detach it from the inner panel.

  14. Remove the grommet in the direction of the arrow (2) shown in the figure.
  15. When installing the D-pillar trim, install new clip B and grommet to the D-pillar trim in advance.
  16. Install in the reverse order of removal.
