Installing the wheel bearing
NOTE:
TECHNICAL INFORMATION
Keep the connection of the wheel bearing on the wheel carrier clean and free of oil and grease.

- Clean the contact surfaces (1) of the wheel carrier (2) and the wheel bearing (3).WARNING: Car may slip off the vehicle hoist where components are supported.
Danger! Immobilization period-threatening injuries!- Secure the vehicle hoist against lowering and lifting.
- Make sure that the vehicle does not lift off the mounting plates on the vehicle lift.
- Position special tool 2 219 012 with special tools 2 411683 and 2 305 379 under wheel carrier (1) .
- Use special tool 2 472 903
or 5 A47 6E6
for tightening the spherical-collar screws.
- Position the wheel bearing (1).
- Replace the spherical-collar screws (arrows).
Parts: Spherical-collar screw
- Tighten the spherical-collar screws crosswise using special tool 2 472 903
.
Lift or lower the wheel carrier using special tool 2 219 012 to gain access to the spherical-collar screws.
TIGHTENING TORQUE SPECIFICATIONWheel bearing to wheel carrier M12
Replace spherical collar screws.
Tighten the spherical-collar screws in crosswise sequence.
The tightening sequence must be followed strictly and carried out on all spherical-collar screws at the same time!Tightening torque 20 Nm Initial torque 140 Nm Unscrew all bolts. max. 45° Tightening torque 120 Nm Angle of rotation 90° - Empty special tool 2 219012 and set it aside.
