Removal [08/2015 - ]: Procedure

  1. DISCHARGE FUEL SYSTEM PRESSURE 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 1

  2. PRECAUTION 
    NOTE:

    After turning the engine switch off, waiting time may be required before disconnecting the cable from the battery terminal. Therefore, make sure to read the disconnecting the cable from the battery terminal notice before proceeding with work (Refer to PRECAUTION [08/2015 - ] ).

  3. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL 
  4. REMOVE UPPER RADIATOR SUPPORT SEAL 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 3

  5. REMOVE RADIATOR GRILLE 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 2

  6. REMOVE FRONT BUMPER COVER 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 6

  7. REMOVE TRANSMISSION OIL COOLER AIR DUCT 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 1

  8. DISCONNECT RADIATOR SIDE DEFLECTOR LH 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 2

  9. REMOVE HOOD SUBASSEMBLY 
    1. Remove the 2 hood support bolts and disconnect the hood supports.

      WARNING:

      Remove the hood support assembly while supporting the hood by hand.

    2. Remove the 4 bolts and hood.
  10. REMOVE COWL TOP VENTILATOR LOUVER SUBASSEMBLY 
    1. Remove the cowl top ventilator louver (Refer to REMOVAL [08/2015 - ] ).
  11. REMOVE FRONT FENDER APRON TRIM PACKING B 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 7

  12. REMOVE FRONT FENDER APRON TRIM PACKING D 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 8

  13. REMOVE FRONT FENDER APRON TRIM PACKING A 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 5

  14. REMOVE FRONT FENDER APRON TRIM PACKING C 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 6

  15. REMOVE FRONT FENDER SPLASH SHIELD SUBASSEMBLY LH 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 1

  16. REMOVE FRONT FENDER SPLASH SHIELD SUBASSEMBLY RH 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 2

  17. REMOVE NO. 1 ENGINE UNDER COVER SUBASSEMBLY 
    1. Remove the 10 bolts and No. 1 engine under cover.

  18. REMOVE NO. 2 ENGINE UNDER COVER 
    1. Remove the 2 bolts and No. 2 engine under cover.

  19. REMOVE OIL PAN PROTECTOR ASSEMBLY 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 12

  20. DRAIN ENGINE OIL 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 1

  21. DRAIN ENGINE COOLANT 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 4

  22. REMOVE V-BANK COVER SUBASSEMBLY 
    1. Raise the front of the V-bank cover to detach the 3 pins. Then remove the 2 V-bank cover hooks from the bracket, and remove the V-bank cover.

  23. REMOVE AIR CLEANER HOSE ASSEMBLY 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 9

  24. REMOVE AIR CLEANER ASSEMBLY 
    1. Remove the 3 bolts and air cleaner.

  25. REMOVE NO. 1 RADIATOR HOSE 
  26. REMOVE NO. 2 RADIATOR HOSE 
  27. REMOVE FAN SHROUD 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 9

  28. REMOVE RADIATOR ASSEMBLY 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 10

  29. DISCONNECT FUEL MAIN AND RETURN HOSE 
    1. Remove the fuel pipe clamp.

    2. Disconnect the fuel main and return hoses (Refer to PRECAUTION [08/2015 - ] ).
  30. DISCONNECT WIRE HARNESS AND HOSE 
    1. Disconnect the purge line hose.

    2. Slide the 6 hose clamps and remove the 4 heater hoses.

    3. Detach the wire harness clamp and disconnect the ECM connector.

      HINT: 

      Refer to the following procedures to disconnect the ECM connector (Refer to REMOVAL [08/2015 - ] ).

    4. Remove the bolt and disconnect the ground wire from the air injection control bracket.
    5. Detach the wire harness clamp and disconnect the 5 connectors from the connector holder block.

    6. Disconnect the 2 air pump connectors and 3 clamps.

    7. Remove the nut and connector bracket.
    8. Remove the bolt and disconnect the ground wire.
    9. Slide the 2 hose clamps and disconnect the 2 air injection system hoses.
    10. Remove the nut and disconnect the wire from the positive (+) battery cable.

    11. Disconnect the cable from the positive (+) battery terminal.
    12. Remove the bolt and disconnect the ground wire from the body.
    13. Disconnect the clamp.
    14. Remove the nut and disconnect the wire and 2 clips from the engine room junction block.
    15. Disconnect the 2 connectors and 2 clamps.
    16. Detach the clamp and disconnect the 4 air injection control driver connectors.

  31. DISCONNECT COOLER COMPRESSOR ASSEMBLY 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 9

  32. DISCONNECT VANE PUMP ASSEMBLY 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 19

  33. REMOVE GENERATOR ASSEMBLY 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 13

  34. REMOVE TAILPIPE ASSEMBLY 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 2

  35. REMOVE CENTER EXHAUST PIPE ASSEMBLY 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 4

  36. REMOVE FRONT NO. 2 EXHAUST PIPE ASSEMBLY 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 5

  37. REMOVE FRONT EXHAUST PIPE ASSEMBLY

  38. REMOVE ENGINE OIL LEVEL DIPSTICK GUIDE

      Disconnect the wire harness clamp.

    2. Remove the dipstick.
    3. Remove the bolt and dipstick guide.
    4. Remove the O-ring from the dipstick guide.
  39. REMOVE FRONT PROPELLER SHAFT ASSEMBLY 
    1. Remove the front propeller shaft (Refer to REMOVAL [08/2015 - ] ).
  40. REMOVE REAR PROPELLER SHAFT ASSEMBLY 
    1. Remove the rear propeller shaft (Refer to REMOVAL [08/2015 - ] ).
  41. REMOVE PROPELLER SHAFT HEAT INSULATOR 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 14

  42. REMOVE NO. 2 MANIFOLD STAY 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 15

  43. REMOVE NO. 2 EXHAUST MANIFOLD HEAT INSULATOR 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 16

  44. REMOVE EXHAUST MANIFOLD SUBASSEMBLY LH 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 17

  45. REMOVE NO. 1 MANIFOLD STAY 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 18

  46. REMOVE NO. 1 EXHAUST MANIFOLD HEAT INSULATOR 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 19

  47. REMOVE EXHAUST MANIFOLD SUBASSEMBLY RH 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 20

  48. REMOVE STARTER COVER 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 16

  49. REMOVE STARTER ASSEMBLY 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 17

  50. REMOVE AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION ASSEMBLY 
    1. Remove the automatic transmission (Refer to REMOVAL [08/2015 - ] ).
  51. REMOVE REAR NO. 1 ENGINE MOUNTING INSULATOR 

    HINT: 

    Only perform this procedure when replacement of the engine mounting insulator is necessary.

    1. Remove the 2 bolts and front engine mounting insulator RH.

    2. Remove the 4 bolts and rear engine mounting insulator from the transmission.
  52. REMOVE DRIVE PLATE AND RING GEAR SUBASSEMBLY 
    1. Using SST, hold the crankshaft.

      • SST: 09213-70011 
      • SST: 09330-00021 
    2. Remove the 10 bolts, rear drive plate spacer, drive plate and crankshaft angle sensor rotor.

  53. DISCONNECT OIL COOLER TUBE 
    1. Remove the 2 bolts and disconnect the oil cooler tube.

  54. REMOVE WATER A PIPE AND HOSE SUBASSEMBLY 
    1. Slide the hose clamp and remove the water A pipe and hose subassembly.

  55. REMOVE ENGINE ASSEMBLY 
    1. Install 2 engine hangers with 2 bolts as shown in the illustration.

      Engine Hanger Part No.

      Item Part No.
      Engine hanger 12281-38030
      Bolt 90119-14120

      Torque: 43 N*m (438 kgf*cm, 32 ft.*lbf) 

    2. Attach an engine sling device and hang the engine with a chain block.
    3. Remove the 4 engine mounting insulator bolts.

    4. Lift the engine out from the vehicle slowly and carefully.
      NOTE:

      Make sure the engine is clear of all wiring, hoses and cables.

      Remove the nut and mounting insulator.

  57. REMOVE FRONT ENGINE MOUNTING INSULATOR RH

      Remove the nut and mounting insulator.

  58. REMOVE NO. 2 FRONT ENGINE MOUNTING BRACKET LH 
    1. Remove the bolt and No. 2 front engine mounting bracket LH.

  59. INSTALL ENGINE ON ENGINE STAND 
    1. Install the engine onto an engine stand with bolts.
    2. Remove the 2 bolts and 2 engine hangers.
