Removing Wire Harness For Engine

  1. 1-6 - Bar ignition module connectors for cylinders 1-6
  2. 7-12 - Connectors for high-pressure fuel injectors (DFI) for cylinders 1-6
  3. 13 - Throttle valve connector
  4. 14 - Crankcase heater connector
  5. 15 - Starter lead for terminal 50
  6. 16 - Knock sensor connector on DFI engines, right
  7. 17 - Connector for oil level sensor
  8. 18 - A/C compressor connector
  9. 19 - Connector for generator
  10. 20 - Crankshaft pulse sender on DFI engines
  11. 21 - Connector for oil pressure switch
  12. 22 - Connector for knock sensor on DFI engines, left
  13. 23 - Connector for high-pressure sensor
  14. 24 - Connector for flow control valve
  15. 25-26 - Connectors for hydraulic valves for camshaft adjustment on DFI engines
  16. 27 - Connector for coolant temperature gauge
  17. 28 - Connector for additional coolant pump
  18. 29-30 - Hall sender connectors (camshafts) on DFI engines
  19. 31 - Connector for carbon canister valve
  20. 32 - Connector for intake pipe switchover valve
  21. 33-34 - Plug connections between engine wire harness and main wire harness
  22. 35 - DME control unit connector
  23. 36 - Ground strap
  1. Release connectors on DFI bar ignition modules -1 to 6-  and pull them off. → Removing Bar Ignition Modules
  2. Release connectors on high-pressure fuel injectors (DFI) -7 to 12- and pull them off. → Removing High-Pressure Fuel Injector
  3. Screw off fastening nut and detach terminal 50 line -15-  from starter. → Removing The Starter
  4. Release connector on right knock sensor on DFI engines -16-  and pull it off. → Removing Right Knock Sensor
  5. Release connector on oil level sensor -17-  and pull it off. → Removing Oil Level Sensor
  6. Unclip engine wire harness with retaining clips at the front right engine housing -arrows-  .

  7. Unclip engine wire harness with retaining clips from the oil pan -arrows-  .

  8. Unclip engine wire harness with retaining clips at the front left engine housing -arrows A-  and detach from the coolant hose together with the support -arrow B-  .

  9. Release connector on air-conditioning compressor -18-  and pull it off. → Removing Air Conditioning Compressor
  10. Release connector on the generator -19-  and pull it off. → Removing The Generator
  11. Release connector on crankshaft pulse sender on DFI engines -20-  and pull it off. → Removing Crankshaft Pulse Sender
  12. Release connector on oil pressure switch -21-  and pull it off. → Removing Oil Pressure Switch
  13. Release connector on left knock sensor on DFI engines -22-  and pull it off. → Removing Right Knock Sensor
  14. Release connector on high-pressure sensor (rail pressure sensor) on DFI engines -23-  and pull it off. → Removing High-Pressure Sensor (Rail Pressure Sensor)
  15. Release connector on flow control valve -24-  and pull it off. → Removing High-Pressure Pump
  16. Unclip engine wire harness with retaining clips at the rear engine housing -arrows-  .

  17. Release connectors on hydraulic valves for camshaft adjustment on VR6 DFI engines -25 and 26-  and pull them off. → Removing Upper Timing-Case Cover
  18. Release connector on coolant temperature gauge on DFI engines -27-  and pull it off. → Removing Coolant Temperature Sensor
  19. Release connector on additional coolant pump -28-  (-arrow A-  ) and pull it off -arrow B-  . → Removing Coolant Pump

    Information 

    • Mark hall sender cable plugs according to position of intake and outlet camshafts. 
    • Have a mirror and lamp to hand in case the installation position is difficult to see.  .
  20. Release connectors on hall senders (camshafts) on DFI engines -29 and 30-  and pull them off. → Removing Hall Sender
  21. Release connector on carbon canister valve -31-  (-arrow A-  ) and pull it off -arrow B-  .

  22. Remove cover for relay carrier in plenum panel E-box.
    1. 22.1. Unscrew fastening screws -1-  (-arrows-  ) and remove cover.

  23. Disconnect plug connection for engine wire harness to main wire harness -33 and 34-  in relay carrier for the plenum panel E-box.
    1. 23.1. Pull off connectors (white, red) -arrows A-  and remove engine wire harness -arrow B-  .

  24. Loosen engine wire harness in left plenum panel.
    1. 24.1. Unclip engine wire harness with retaining clips from the plenum panel -arrow-  .

  25. Pull off connector on DME control unit -35-  . → Removing Dme Control Unit
  26. Loosen ground straps -36-  .
    1. 26.1. Screw off fastening nut -1-  and remove the ground straps together with the twist lock -arrow-  .

  27. Loosen engine wire harness in right plenum panel and take it out of the plenum panel.
    1. 27.1. Pull engine wire harness together with retaining clips off the threaded bolts -arrows A-  and remove rubber seal in area -a-  (-arrow B-  ).
    2. 27.2. Pull rubber sleeve up and out -arrow C-  .
    3. 27.3. Unclip engine wire harness at the retaining clip -arrow D-  and remove engine wire harness -arrow E-  .
