51 44 011 Removing and installing or replacing headlining (with sliding/tilting sunroof)

Preliminary work needed:

Remove TRIM PANEL FOR ROOF PILLAR at front (A pillar) left/right
Remove TRIM PANEL FOR STORAGE SHELF
Remove REAR ROOF LIGHT
Remove all sun visors and counter-supports. See REMOVING LEFT/RIGHT SUN VISORS AND COUNTER-SUPPORTS and REMOVING DRIVER'S SUN VISOR/COUNTER SUPPORT (SIDE) .
Remove ROOF OPERATING FACILITY
Remove FRONT ROOFLINER COVER
Remove TRIM PANELS FOR DOOR PILLARS
Remove front/rear GRAB HANDLES
Remove REAR ROOFLINER COVER
Remove TRIM PANEL FOR ROOF PILLAR at rear (C-pillar) left/right
Remove TRIM PANEL FOR ROOF PILLAR at rear (D-pillar) left/right

Complete removal only:

Remove WINDSHIELD

Removal:

Slide driver's seat fully forwards and fold back backrest.

Slide front passenger seat fully forwards and fold back backrest.

Release expanding rivets (1 and 2).

Release edge protection in area of headlining.

Unfasten plug connection.

Lay headlining (3) downwards.

If removing completely:

Feed out headlining (3) over windshield opening with the aid of a second person.

Installation:

Bring headlining (3) into installation position and connect plug connections.

Mount expanding rivets (1 and 2).
