Installation [09/2018 - 10/2020]: Procedure

  1. INSTALL COMPRESSOR ASSEMBLY WITH PULLEY 
    1. for 2WD:

      Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 2

    2. for AWD:

      Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 2

  2. INSTALL GENERATOR ASSEMBLY 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 1

  3. INSTALL FAN AND GENERATOR V BELT 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 1

  4. INSTALL FRONT NO. 1 ENGINE MOUNTING BRACKET RH (for 2WD) 
    1. Install the front No. 1 engine mounting bracket RH and No. 7 engine cover with the 4 bolts.

      Torque: 43 N.m (438 kgf/cm, 32 ft.lbf)

      *1 Front No. 1 Engine Mounting Bracket RH
      *2 No. 7 Engine Cover
      *a Stopper

      HINT: 

      Check that the stopper of the front No. 1 engine mounting bracket RH is contacting the No. 7 engine cover.

  5. INSTALL FRONT NO. 1 ENGINE MOUNTING BRACKET LH

      *2 No. 8 Engine Cover
      *a Stopper

      for 2WD:

      1. Install the front No. 1 engine mounting bracket LH and No. 8 engine cover with the 4 bolts.

        Torque: 43 N.m (438 kgf/cm, 32 ft.lbf) 

        HINT: 

        Check that the stopper of the front No. 1 engine mounting bracket LH is contacting the No. 8 engine cover.

    2. for AWD:

      1. Install the front No. 1 engine mounting bracket LH with the 4 bolts.

        Torque: 43 N.m (438 kgf/cm, 32 ft.lbf) 

  6. INSTALL WIRE HARNESS CLAMP BRACKET 
    1. for 2WD:

      Bolt A Bolt B
      1. Install the 7 wire harness clamp brackets with the 7 bolts.

        Bolt A 

        Torque: 10 N.m (102 kgf/cm, 7 ft.lbf) 

        Bolt B 

        Torque: 12 N.m (122 kgf/cm, 9 ft.lbf) 

    2. for AWD:

      Bolt A Bolt B
      1. Install the 9 wire harness clamp brackets with the 10 bolts.

        Bolt A 

        Torque: 10 N.m (102 kgf/cm, 7 ft.lbf) 

        Bolt B 

        Torque: 12 N.m (122 kgf/cm, 9 ft.lbf) 

    3. Install the wire harness clamp bracket with the 2 bolts.

      Torque: 10 N.m (102 kgf/cm, 7 ft.lbf)

    4. Install the wire harness clamp bracket with the 2 bolts.

      Torque: 21 N.m (214 kgf/cm, 15 ft.lbf)

    5. Attach the clamp and connect the sensor wire to the wire harness clamp bracket.
    6. Attach the 2 clamps and connect the No. 6 engine wire to the wire harness clamp bracket.
  7. INSTALL ENGINE WIRE 
  8. INSTALL ENGINE HANGER 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 125

  9. REMOVE ENGINE STAND 
    1. Attach an engine sling device and hang the engine with a chain block.
      NOTE:

      Pay attention to the angle of the sling device as the engine assembly or engine hangers may be damaged or deformed if the angle is incorrect.

    2. Lift the engine and remove it from the engine stand.
      NOTE:

      With the exception of installing the engine assembly to an engine stand or removing the engine assembly from an engine stand, do not perform any work on the engine while it is suspended, as doing so is dangerous.

    3. Place the engine onto a work bench.
  10. INSTALL REAR ENGINE MOUNTING INSULATOR 
    1. for 2WD:

      Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 6 [09/2018 - 09/2019] , or refer to PROCEDURE - Step 4 [09/2019 - 10/2020]

    2. for AWD:

      Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 8 [12/2017 - 09/2019] , or refer to PROCEDURE - Step 6 [09/2019 - 10/2020]

  11. INSTALL REAR ENGINE MOUNTING MEMBER 
    1. for 2WD:

      1. Install the rear engine mounting member to the rear engine mounting insulator with the 3 nuts.

        Torque: 41 N.m (418 kgf/cm, 30 ft.lbf) 

    2. for AWD:

      1. Install the rear engine mounting member to the rear engine mounting insulator with the 3 nuts.

        Torque: 41 N.m (418 kgf/cm, 30 ft.lbf) 

  12. INSTALL FRONT ENGINE MOUNTING INSULATOR (for 2WD) 

    HINT: 

    Only perform this procedure when replacement of the front engine mounting insulator is necessary.

      Install the 2 front engine mounting insulators with the 2 nuts.

      Torque: 65 N.m (663 kgf/cm, 48 ft.lbf) 

  13. INSTALL FRONT FRAME CROSSMEMBER SUB-ASSEMBLY (for 2WD) 
    1. Install the front frame crossmember sub-assembly to the engine assembly with the 2 bolts.

  14. INSTALL FRONT DIFFERENTIAL CARRIER ASSEMBLY (for AWD)

  15. INSTALL FRONT DRIVE SHAFT HOLE SNAP RING LH (for AWD)

    2. Install the wire harness clamp bracket to the front No. 1 engine mounting bracket RH with the bolt.

      Torque: 10 N.m (102 kgf/cm, 7 ft.lbf) 

  27. INSTALL FRONT ENGINE MOUNTING INSULATOR (for AWD) 

    HINT: 

    Only perform this procedure when replacement of the front engine mounting insulator is necessary.

  40. INSTALL ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION ASSEMBLY (for 2WD) 
    1. Set the engine on an engine lifter.
      NOTE:
      • Place wooden blocks or plate lift attachments so that the engine is level.
      • With the exception of installing the engine assembly to an engine stand or removing the engine assembly from an engine stand, do not perform any work on the engine while it is suspended, as doing so is dangerous.
      • Never install attachments to the oil pan of the engine assembly or transmission as doing so may deform the oil pan.

      Place Wooden Block or Plate Attachments
    2. Operate the engine lifter and install the engine and transmission assembly to the vehicle.
      NOTE:

      Make sure that the engine is clear of all wiring and hoses.

    3. Install the engine and transmission assembly to the vehicle with the 2 bolts and 2 nuts.

    4. Install the rear engine mounting member with the 6 bolts.

      Torque: 34.7 N.m (354 kgf/cm, 26 ft.lbf)

    5. Remove the 4 bolts and 2 engine hangers.
  41. INSTALL ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION ASSEMBLY (for AWD) 
    1. Set the engine on an engine lifter.
      NOTE:
      • Place wooden blocks or plate lift attachments so that the engine is level.
      • With the exception of installing the engine assembly to an engine stand or removing the engine assembly from an engine stand, do not perform any work on the engine while it is suspended, as doing so is dangerous.
      • Never install attachments to the oil pan of the engine assembly or transmission as doing so may deform the oil pan.

    5. Remove the 4 bolts and 2 engine hangers.
  42. INSTALL NO. 2 GROUND WIRE

      1. Install the No. 2 ground wire with the bolt.

        Torque: 10 N.m (102 kgf/cm, 7 ft.lbf)

  43. CONNECT THROTTLE LINK CONNECTING ROD ASSEMBLY 
    1. Connect the parking lock release lever assembly cable end to the throttle link connecting rod assembly cable end.

    2. Attach the 2 claws and connect the cover to the throttle link connecting rod assembly as shown in the illustration.

    1. Install the No. 6 turbo insulator with the bolt and nut.

      1. Install the rear frame rail sub-assembly LH with the 3 bolts.

    4. Attach the 2 claws and connect the No. 1 semiconductor power integration ECU to the No. 1 engine room relay block.
    5. Attach the clamp.
    6. Connect the 2 ECM connectors.

    8. Install the nut.

    1. Connect the air cleaner assembly RH to the No. 1 air inlet duct.
    2. Insert the 3 air cleaner assembly RH pins into the air cleaner support bracket and radiator upper support.
    3. Tighten the hose clamp.

    4. Connect the 2 vacuum hose sub-assemblies.
    5. Attach the 2 clamps and connect the wire harness clamp to the air cleaner assembly RH.
