Installation Procedure

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2015 Chevrolet Malibu. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Position the powertrain support table under the vehicle.
  2. Raise the powertrain into position under the vehicle.
  3. With the table positioned, if required, lower the vehicle over the powertrain.
  4. Install the NEW frame to body bolts. Refer to Drivetrain and Front Suspension Frame Replacement .
  5. Lower the vehicle.
  6. Install the transmission mount. Refer to Transmission Mount Replacement - Left Side .
  7. Install the engine mount (1). Refer to Engine Mount Replacement (LKW) .

  8. Install the intermediate drive shaft. Refer to Front Wheel Drive Intermediate Shaft Replacement .
  9. Install the left wheel drive shaft. Refer to Front Wheel Drive Shaft Replacement - Left Side .
  10. Connect the lower control arms from the steering knuckles. Refer to Lower Control Arm Replacement .
  11. Install the exhaust system. Refer to Exhaust Front Pipe Replacement (LKW) .
  12. Connect the intermediate shaft from the steering gear. Refer to Intermediate Steering Shaft Replacement .
  13. Connect the stabilizer links (1) from the stabilizer shaft. Refer to Stabilizer Shaft Link Replacement .

  14. Connect the tie rods (1) from the steering knuckles. Refer to Steering Linkage Outer Tie Rod Replacement .

  15. Install the air conditioning compressor and condenser hose (1). Refer to Air Conditioning Compressor and Condenser Hose Replacement .

  16. Install the heater outlet hose (2). Refer to Heater Outlet Hose Replacement (Heater Core Outlet Tube to Heater Outlet Pipe LKW) , Heater Outlet Hose Replacement (Auxiliary Water Pump to Heater Outlet Pipe LKW) and Heater Outlet Hose Replacement (Radiator Surge Tank Auxiliary to Water Pump to Water Outlet LKW) .

  17. Install the heater inlet hose (1). Refer to Heater Inlet Hose Replacement (LKW) .
  18. Connect the radiator inlet hose (1). Refer to Radiator Inlet Hose Replacement (LKW) .

  19. Connect the radiator outlet hose. Refer to Radiator Outlet Hose Replacement (LKW) .
  20. Connect the EVAP hose (1). Refer to Plastic Collar Quick Connect Fitting Service .

  21. Connect the fuel line (1). Refer to Metal Collar Quick Connect Fitting Service .
  22. Connect the vacuum hose (1). Refer to Plastic Collar Quick Connect Fitting Service .

  23. Install the intake manifold cover (1). Refer to Intake Manifold Cover Replacement (LKW) .

  24. Install the air cleaner outlet duct. Refer to Air Cleaner Outlet Duct Replacement (LKW) .
  25. Install the air cleaner assembly (1). Refer to Air Cleaner Assembly Replacement (LKW) .

  26. Install the air cleaner resonator and outlet duct. Refer to Air Cleaner Resonator and Outlet Duct Replacement (LKW) .
  27. Install the battery tray. Refer to Battery Tray Replacement .
  28. Recharge the A/C system. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging .
  29. Fill the cooling system. Refer to Cooling System Draining and Filling (GE 47716)Cooling System Draining and Filling (Static) .
  30. If the engine is replaced with a new engine or has been overhauled, perform the Engine Prelubing procedure. Refer to Engine Prelubing .
    NOTE: Prelube is necessary if the engine is replaced or overhauled.
  31. Connect the negative battery cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection (Without Start/Stop) and Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection (With Start/Stop) .
