Installation Procedure

- Position the powertrain support table under the vehicle.
- Raise the powertrain into position under the vehicle.
- With the table positioned, if required, lower the vehicle over the powertrain.
- Install the NEW frame to body bolts. Refer to Drivetrain and Front Suspension Frame Replacement .
- Lower the vehicle.
- Install the transmission mount. Refer to Transmission Mount Replacement - Left Side .
- Install the engine mount (1). Refer to Engine Mount Replacement (LKW) .
- Install the intermediate drive shaft. Refer to Front Wheel Drive Intermediate Shaft Replacement .
- Install the left wheel drive shaft. Refer to Front Wheel Drive Shaft Replacement - Left Side .
- Connect the lower control arms from the steering knuckles. Refer to Lower Control Arm Replacement .
- Install the exhaust system. Refer to Exhaust Front Pipe Replacement (LKW) .
- Connect the intermediate shaft from the steering gear. Refer to Intermediate Steering Shaft Replacement .
- Connect the stabilizer links (1) from the stabilizer shaft. Refer to Stabilizer Shaft Link Replacement .
- Connect the tie rods (1) from the steering knuckles. Refer to Steering Linkage Outer Tie Rod Replacement .
- Install the air conditioning compressor and condenser hose (1). Refer to Air Conditioning Compressor and Condenser Hose Replacement .
- Install the heater outlet hose (2). Refer to Heater Outlet Hose Replacement (Heater Core Outlet Tube to Heater Outlet Pipe LKW) , Heater Outlet Hose Replacement (Auxiliary Water Pump to Heater Outlet Pipe LKW) and Heater Outlet Hose Replacement (Radiator Surge Tank Auxiliary to Water Pump to Water Outlet LKW) .
- Install the heater inlet hose (1). Refer to Heater Inlet Hose Replacement (LKW) .
- Connect the radiator inlet hose (1). Refer to Radiator Inlet Hose Replacement (LKW) .
- Connect the radiator outlet hose. Refer to Radiator Outlet Hose Replacement (LKW) .
- Connect the EVAP hose (1). Refer to Plastic Collar Quick Connect Fitting Service .
- Connect the fuel line (1). Refer to Metal Collar Quick Connect Fitting Service .
- Connect the vacuum hose (1). Refer to Plastic Collar Quick Connect Fitting Service .
- Install the intake manifold cover (1). Refer to Intake Manifold Cover Replacement (LKW) .
- Install the air cleaner outlet duct. Refer to Air Cleaner Outlet Duct Replacement (LKW) .
- Install the air cleaner assembly (1). Refer to Air Cleaner Assembly Replacement (LKW) .
- Install the air cleaner resonator and outlet duct. Refer to Air Cleaner Resonator and Outlet Duct Replacement (LKW) .
- Install the battery tray. Refer to Battery Tray Replacement .
- Recharge the A/C system. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging .
- Fill the cooling system. Refer to Cooling System Draining and Filling (GE 47716)Cooling System Draining and Filling (Static) .
- If the engine is replaced with a new engine or has been overhauled, perform the Engine Prelubing procedure. Refer to Engine Prelubing
.NOTE: Prelube is necessary if the engine is replaced or overhauled.
- Connect the negative battery cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection (Without Start/Stop) and Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection (With Start/Stop) .
