Installing rear axle differential

It is essential to replace the circlip of the output shaft.

- Check the gearing of the output shaft for damage and replace damaged parts if necessary.
- Check the dust plate (1) for damage and replace the damaged parts if necessary.
- Replace the circlip (3).

- Coat the contact surface (2) with approved rear differential fluid.

- Insert installation protection ring (1) for the left output shaft and open it.
- Release special tool 2 413 317 from the left output shaft (1).

- All specifications must be observed and complied with.
- Raise rear axle differential (1) using special tool 2 219 012 until the left output shaft (2) can be guided in.
- Guide the left output shaft (2) into the rear axle differential.
- Pull out and dispose of the installation protection ring.
- Raise the rear axle differential and position it on the rear axle support.
- Replace screws (1).

- Screw in the screws (1) by a few turns.
- Replace the nut (1) and the screw (2).
Parts: Nut, bolt
- Insert screw (2) into the rear axle support.
- Tighten nut (1).

- Tighten the screws (1).

- Release special tool 0 496 080 (33 5 206) from special tool 0 496 009 (33 5 200) .
- Lower special tool 0 496 009 (33 5 200) using special tool 2 219 012 and keep it aside.
- Position ground cable (2) on the rear axle differential.
- Tighten nut (1).
