Install right output shaft

Installing the output shaft

NOTE: Description is for right component only. The procedure on the left side is identical.

NOTE: TECHNICAL INFORMATION
Extreme force being required during installation is an indication that the component is damaged or deformed. Check component and replace if necessary.

NOTE: TECHNICAL INFORMATION
If the driven shaft is reused, the circlip must be replaced.

Check the gearing of the output shaft for damage and replace damaged parts if necessary.
Check the dust plate (1) for damage and replace damaged parts as needed.
Replace the circlip (3) .
Parts: Circlip
Coat the contact surface (2) using approved rear differential fluid.
NOTE: TECHNICAL INFORMATION
Radial shaft seal ring are equipped with an installation protection ring. The installation protection ring is used to protect the sealing lip when installing the output shaft.
Insert the installation protection ring (1) and open it up.

NOTE: TECHNICAL INFORMATION
Conduct the following operation with the assistance of a second person.
Pull the wheel carrier (1) in arrow direction to the outside.
Feed in the output shaft (2) through the installation protection ring into the rear axle differential and position it on the wheel carrier (1) .

Pull on the lug (3) of the installation protection ring until one of the two predetermined breaking point breaks.
Pull out and dispose of the installation protection ring.
