Instrument Panel Assembly: Removal
CAUTION:
- Before handling the airbag system components, refer to "CAUTION" of "General Description" in "AIRBAG SYSTEM". Ref. to AIRBAG SYSTEM>GENERAL DESCRIPTION>CAUTION .
- Be careful not to damage the airbag system harness when servicing the instrument panel. Damage may cause the system to malfunction.
- Disconnect the ground terminal from the battery sensor, and wait for at least 60 seconds before starting work. Ref. to GROUND TERMINAL REMOVAL OR INSTALLATION
.NOTE:
- Release the shift lock and shift the select lever to the "N" position. Ref. to CONTROL SYSTEMS>SELECT LEVER>REMOVAL .
- For the power seat model, remove the console box before removing the ground terminal from the battery sensor.
- Remove the cover assembly front and the console box assembly. Ref. to EXTERIOR/INTERIOR TRIM>Console Box>REMOVAL .
- Remove the grille ventilation assembly center. Ref. to AIR CONDITIONER>AIR VENT GRILLE>REMOVAL>CENTER GRILLE .
- Remove the panel center UPR, and remove the audio assembly or navigation assembly. Ref. to ENTERTAINMENT AND MONITORING>AUDIO>REMOVAL .
- Remove the heater control assembly. Ref. to AIR CONDITIONER>CONTROL PANEL>REMOVAL .
- Remove the cover center side and the tray center UPR. Ref. to EXTERIOR/INTERIOR TRIM>Center Console>REMOVAL .
- Remove the cover LWR driver. Ref. to EXTERIOR/INTERIOR TRIM>Instrument Panel Lower Cover>REMOVAL .
- Remove the knee airbag module assembly. Ref. to AIRBAG SYSTEM>KNEE AIRBAG MODULE>REMOVAL .
- Remove the driver's airbag module. Ref. to AIRBAG SYSTEM>DRIVER'S AIRBAG MODULE>REMOVAL .
- Remove the steering wheel. Ref. to POWER ASSISTED SYSTEM (POWER STEERING)>STEERING WHEEL>REMOVAL .
- Remove the visor assembly, cover steering UPR and combination meter assembly. Ref. to INSTRUMENTATION/DRIVER INFO>COMBINATION METER>REMOVAL .
- Remove the GPS antenna assembly. Ref. to ENTERTAINMENT AND MONITORING>ANTENNA>REMOVAL>GPS ANTENNA .
- Remove the reinforcement meter. (Model without keyless access with push button start)
- Remove the telematics antenna. (Model with telematics) Ref. to ENTERTAINMENT AND MONITORING>ANTENNA>REMOVAL>TELEMATICS SUB ANTENNA .
- Remove the keyless access control module. (Model with keyless access with push button start) Ref. to SECURITY AND LOCKS>KEYLESS ACCESS CONTROL MODULE>REMOVAL .
- Release the claws and clips, and remove the cover starter switch. (Model without keyless access with push button start)
- Remove the panel starter switch and switch assembly starter. (Model with keyless access with push button start) Ref. to SECURITY AND LOCKS>PUSH BUTTON IGNITION SWITCH>REMOVAL .
- Remove the right and left trim panel assembly A pillars. Ref. to EXTERIOR/INTERIOR TRIM>Upper Inner Trim>REMOVAL .
- Remove the grille speaker side and the speaker assembly tweeter on the left and right sides. Ref. to ENTERTAINMENT AND MONITORING>FRONT SPEAKER>REMOVAL>TWEETER .
- Remove the glove box assembly. Ref. to EXTERIOR/INTERIOR TRIM>Glove Box>REMOVAL .
- Remove the multi-function display. Ref. to INSTRUMENTATION/DRIVER INFO>MULTIFUNCTION DISPLAY (MFD)>REMOVAL .
- Remove the grille front defroster.
- Release the clips, and then raise the grille front defroster.
- Disconnect the sunload sensor connector, and remove the grille front defroster.
- Remove the bolts of the passenger's airbag module, and disconnect the connector. Ref. to AIRBAG SYSTEM>AIRBAG CONNECTOR>PROCEDURE>PASSENGER'S AIRBAG MODULE AND REAR SEAT BELT PRETENSIONER

- Remove the column assembly steering. Ref. to POWER ASSISTED SYSTEM (POWER STEERING)>STEERING COLUMN>REMOVAL .
- Remove the instrument panel assembly.
- Remove the harness clamp of the speaker assembly tweeter.
- Release the clamps of the sunload sensor and multi-function display harnesses, and pull them out toward yourself.NOTE: Confirm the harness routing of the sunload sensor and multi-function display harnesses.
- Remove the screws, and remove the instrument panel assembly.
- Remove the cover side sill front FT and the cover side sill front RR on the left and right sides. Ref. to EXTERIOR/INTERIOR TRIM>Lower Inner Trim>REMOVAL .
- Remove the weather strip body side flange front.
- Remove the duct rear heater front. Ref. to AIR CONDITIONER>AIR VENT DUCT>REMOVAL>REAR DUCT .
- Remove the beam steering COMPL.CAUTION: The beam steering COMPL is heavy. Always work in a team of two persons when removing them from the vehicle, so as not to damage the vehicle interior.
- Remove the body integrated unit (fuse and relay box).
- Disconnect all harness clamps and connectors of the instrument panel harness.
- Release all lock points for the ground bolt, heater and cooling unit assembly and the beam steering COMPL.
- Remove the cap bolt, and remove the TORX® bolt.
PREPARATION TOOL
TORX® T40
- Remove the bolts at the floor center.
- Loosen the adjuster portion (a) of the adjuster clip space. (Only LH side of the beam steering COMPL)
PREPARATION TOOL
Hexagon wrench: 8 mm (0.31 in)
- Slightly lift it up to detach the left and right pins, and then pull it toward you to remove together with the beam steering COMPL.CAUTION:
- Check that all lock points for the harness clamps, harness connectors and the beam steering COMPL have been released completely.
- The instrument panel assembly and the beam steering COMPL are heavy. Always work in a team of two persons when removing them from the vehicle, so as not to damage the vehicle interior.
- Remove the tapping screws and release the claws, and remove the passenger's airbag module.
- Remove the ventilation duct as required.
