Block diagram of MBAC

General

The MB Advanced Control control unit (N175) is a control unit with app applications for smartphones that enables connection to typical camper van systems such as the cameras, heating, refrigerator, gas, fresh water, wastewater, etc. It combines the systems and, via the user interface (HMI) as well as smart devices, provides a status display and a control option. It is supported in this by a PC-based, graphic configuration tool.

IMPORTANT It is possible to control caravan accessories via the head unit or the smartphone app.

Properties

The configuration specific to body manufacturers is stored in "VeDoc". Individual coding can be transferred into the MBAC using XENTRY Diagnosis Software with menu item "Configuration - Manual Settings - VeDoc".

The MBAC can be installed with or without video interface.

During SCN coding, the individual configuration is deleted and overwritten with a standard factory coding ("DEACTIVATED/only Bluetooth® pairing button").

Up to three MBACs can be connected to each other to increase the number of inputs and outputs.

Additional function requirements

The MBAC is independent of the on-board electrical system battery. If the MBAC is disconnected from the secondary battery, the MBAC switches to operating mode OFF.

Basic functions of the MBAC

The MBAC has the following basic functions:

Functional reliability

The MBAC (Mercedes-Benz Advanced Control) provides the body manufacturer with an interface, not a system. The functionalities of the MBAC, made available via the interface, are safeguarded in accordance with ISO 26262. Validation of functions in which the MBAC is involved as well as compliance with the current standards (e.g. ISO 26262 on functional reliability) and specifications are always the responsibility of the body manufacturer.

Control

The MBAC can operate the following equipment:

The following functions are purely comfort functions.

Operation of the following equipment is observed here:

Actuator functions are functions with potential safety relevance.

However, a final assessment of the safety relevance can only be provided by the manufacturer of the overall system

To safeguard these functions Mercedes-Benz enables the actuator functions to be locked when driving. The functions are locked in the MBAC via the configuration file at a speed of v > 0 km/h.

If higher validation is required, this should be implemented by the body manufacturer. Fused signals (e.g. speed, ignition) from the PSM can be used for this.

Operation of the following equipment is observed here:

The function for the windshield and side windows requires a speed check.

Roller blinds on the rear window that do not impair the driver's view can be excluded from this.

The control of the individual equipment is shown in separate documents.

Status scan

The MBAC can query the status of the following scopes:

For the display of status information in installed displays, access to these scopes is read-only.

The status query of the individual components is shown in separate documents.
