Assembly:  Clip hinged window pneumatic spring (12) into ball pin (11) with retainer installed.

21	Drill out rivet on drip rail (9) and remove drip rail (9). General information on riveting		AH60.00-P-0003-01N
22	Remove license plate number.
23	Remove license plate bracket.
24	Heat model badges and remove.	Fit model badges to tailgate Assembly:  Replace model badges.	AR72.20-S-0003E
25	Heat and remove Mercedes star.	Fit model badge to liftgate Assembly:  Replace the Mercedes star.	AR72.20-S-0003E
26	Remove left license plate lamp (E19/1) and right license plate lamp (E19/2).		AR82.10-S-5161E
27	Remove center trim element from tailgate (1).	Model 448.8	AR88.85-S-9851CH
28	Remove bottom trim element from tailgate (1).	Model 448.8	AR88.85-S-9849CH
29	Mount tailgate (1) in lifting device.

		Aid of helper required.
30	Remove left edge tailgate anti-pinch protection sensor (B51/1) and right edge tailgate anti-pinch protection sensor (B51/2).	Model 447, 448 with code W68 (EASY-PACK-tailgate)	AR72.20-S-1005A
31	Remove grab strap (5).	Model 447, 448 except code W68 (EASY-PACK-tailgate)
32	Remove left electrical wiring harness with hose for windshield washer system on rear window of tailgate (1).	Observe assembly position.
33	Remove right electrical wiring harness on tailgate (1).	Model 447.8, 448.8 with code W64 (Separately opening rear window) Observe assembly position.	AR54.18-S-0003-01E
34	Remove both holders with ball pins (3).	Bolt, bracket with ball stud to liftgate	*BA72.20-Z-1015-03KOJ
35	Remove all clips of interior trim on tailgate window frame (1) and the tailgate trim on window cutout.
36	Remove all cable glands.
37	Assemble in the reverse order.
	Install
38	Install tailgate (1).		AR72.20-S-1020E
39	Perform cavity preservation.	If tailgate (1) is replaced.	AR97.20-S-1500E
40	Install foil on tailgate (1).		AR72.20-S-4100E
41	Install tailgate trim.		AR72.20-S-6445E
