DANGER Risk of death  caused by vehicle slipping or toppling off of the lifting platform. Align vehicle between vehicle lift columns and position the four support plates at the vehicle lift support points specified by the vehicle manufacturer. AS00.00-Z-0010-01A

REMOVINGINSTALLING Remove/install     
1 Secure vehicle on vehicle lift   AR00.60-P-0100CW
2 Vent pressure in AIRmatic system using diagnostic system MODEL 205 with CODE 489 (AIRmatic)  
REFER TO SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEMS     AD00.00-P-2000-04B
3 Deactivate easy entry and exit feature for steering wheel in instrument cluster MODEL 205 with CODE 275 (Electrically adjustable driver's seat with memory function)  
4 Turn steering wheel to central position (front wheels in straight ahead position) and secure with the retaining device   AR46.20-P-0600-01LW
NOTES
The steering wheel must not be turned when detaching steering coupling.
Otherwise the clock spring contact will be destroyed.

6 Attach engine hoist MODEL 205 with ENGINE 626 AR33.10-P-0105OLP
MODEL 205 with ENGINE 651 AR33.10-P-0105LWD
MODEL 205 with ENGINE 274, 276.8 AR33.10-P-0105LW 
7 Remove engine compartment paneling at center, front and rear   AR61.20-P-1105LW
8 Secure radiator package (1) with tensioning strap (2) to prevent it from falling down NOTES
Do not tighten tensioning strap (2) too far.
Otherwise components may be damaged.
 
9 Remove front wheels   AR40.10-P-1101A
10 Detach suspension struts from spring control arms MODEL 205 with CODE 489 (AIRmatic) AR32.25-P-1017LWL
MODEL 205 except CODE 489 (AIRmatic) AR32.25-P-1017LW
11 Detach torsion bar linkage from spring control arm   AR32.35-P-3328LW
12.1 Disconnect steering coupling from steering shaft at the lock MODEL 205.0/2 except CODE 700 (Technology Local Content China)

TORQUE SPECIFICATION Self-locking bolt, steering coupling to lower steering shaft *BA46.10-P-1003-01N 
13 Unclip holder for wiring harness on rack-and-pinion steering (3) from front axle (4), detach and place to one side with wiring harness for rack-and-pinion steering    
14 Remove AIRmatic compressor MODEL 205 with CODE 489 (AIRmatic) AR32.22-P-2001LW
15 Remove bolts (6) and remove left and right diagonal strut (5) TORQUE SPECIFICATION Mount, support (strut) *BA33.10-P-1002-01Q 
16 Remove bolts (7) of engine mount from front axle (4) MODEL 205  
MODEL 205 with ENGINE 626 AR22.10-P-1260OLP
MODEL 205 with ENGINE 274.9 AR22.10-P-1260LWA
MODEL 205 with ENGINE 651 AR22.10-P-1260LWB
17 Raise engine with engine hoist far enough to fully extend the engine mount guide pins out of the axle carrier    
18 Position lifting device (8) onto front axle (4) and fix in place using tensioning strap (9)    
REFER TO SPECIAL TOOLS 000 588 11 62 00 Major assembly mount   WS01.00-P-0092B
REFER TO SPECIAL TOOLS 000 588 10 62 00 Support plate   WS26.00-P-3309B
19 Remove bolts (10) from front axle (4)    
NOTES Notes on bolted connections with self tapping screws   AH00.00-P-0007-01SF
    TORQUE SPECIFICATION Bolt, front axle carrier to longitudinal member *BA33.10-P-1001-01Q 
20 Detach electrical connection of outside temperature sensor (B14) and let electrical line hang down to one side    
21 Detach line bracket for left front-axle rpm sensor and line bracket for right front-axle rpm sensor from front axle carrier, and allow to hang down at side with electrical lines connected    
22 Detach engine compartment paneling bracket (11)    
23 Detach refrigerant line (18) from condenser (19), let it hang down at side and seal connections INSTALLATION IMPORTANT Install new seals.  
TORQUE SPECIFICATION Nut, line to condenser *BA83.30-P-1002-01Q 
SPECIAL TOOL Record plug Figure
24 Unfasten air-break contactors (12) and fold inwards    
25 Remove screw/bolt (13)    
26 Unfasten bolt (15)    
27 Lower front axle (4) slightly NOTES
Carefully lower front axle (4).
Otherwise, the radiator package (1) may be damaged.
 
28 Mark aluminum strut (20) relative to front axle (4) using colored pencil    
29 Remove bolts (16) of left cooler support (21) and remove left cooler support (21) IMPORTANT Check rubber bracket (17) is correctly seated.  
TORQUE SPECIFICATION Bolt, radiator mounting bracket to front axle carrier *BA33.10-P-1003-01Q 
30 Detach circulation pump for 1 low-temperature circuit with bracket from right radiator mounting bracket (21) and let it hang down at side with connected lines    
31 Remove bolts (16) of right cooler support (21) and remove right cooler support (21) IMPORTANT Check rubber bracket (17) is correctly seated.  
TORQUE SPECIFICATION Bolt, radiator mounting bracket to front axle carrier *BA33.10-P-1003-01Q 
32 Pull front axle (4) slightly to rear, turn bracket (14) to side and remove aluminum struts (20) INSTALLATION IMPORTANT Note previously-made markings when sliding in aluminum struts (20).  
33 Carefully lower front axle (4) NOTES
Do not lower the front axle (4) too much.
Otherwise lines, components and the cooler may be damaged.
 
34 Install in the reverse order    
35 Perform wheel alignment check   AR40.20-P-0200LW
