Remove/install the suspension strut - AR32.25-P-1017LW

NOTES Notes on self-locking nuts and bolts   AH00.00-N-0001-01A
IMPORTANT Notes on repair work on suspension components   AH00.00-P-0100-01A
REMOVINGINSTALLING Remove/install     
1 Remove left or right front wheel-and-tire assembly   AR40.10-P-1101A
2 Open cable duct (1) on suspension strut (2) and place to one side with lines connected MODEL 205
without CODE 489 (AIRMATIC)
without CODE M005 (4MATIC)
 
3 Unhook brake hose (10) from bracket (11) MODEL 205
with CODE M005 (4MATIC)
without CODE 489 (AIRMATIC)
 
4 Unhook electrical lines (13) from bracket (14) and place to one side MODEL 205
with CODE M005 (4MATIC)
without CODE 489 (AIRMATIC)
 
5 Detach suspension strut (2) from spring control arm (5) INSTALLATION NOTES
Observe insertion direction of bolt (6). Bolt (6) must be inserted from the rear towards the front.
Otherwise, the brake or the rim may be damaged.
 
TORQUE SPECIFICATION Nut, suspension strut to spring control arm *BA32.25-P-1002-04P 
6 Secure steering knuckle (3) against folding down    
7 Detach upper transverse control arm (4) from steering knuckle (3)   AR33.20-P-0500LW
8 Lower the vehicle far enough to gain access to the cover (7) and service flap (8)    
9 Remove cover (7) or service flap (8) from suspension strut tower    
10 Unscrew nuts (9) from corresponding suspension strut (2) TORQUE SPECIFICATION Nut, suspension strut to body *BA32.25-P-1001-04P 
11 Remove suspension strut (2) downwards NOTES
Carefully remove suspension strut (2). Otherwise the spring control arm strut on the spring control arm (5) may be damaged.
 
INSPECT Check     
12 Check condition of suspension strut (2) If damage is present:

Replace damaged parts on suspension strut (2).

13 Check condition of suspension strut link on spring control arm (5) If there is damage or wear:

Replace spring control arm (5).
 
AR33.15-P-0170LW
14 Install in the reverse order    
15 Check headlamp adjustment When replacing components.  
REFER TO MAINTENANCE     AP82.10-P-8260E
