Test B: Warning Light Illuminates When Ignition Is Turned On & Remains Illuminated: Notes

Before proceeding, see AIR BAG SAFETY PRECAUTIONS . Disconnect negative battery cable. Wait more than one minute to allow back-up power supply to deplete. Access SAS unit and check SAS unit harness connector for damage or improper connection. See SAS UNIT under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. If connector is okay, go to next step. If connector needs repair or correct installation, repair as necessary and thengo to step 6.
Disable air bag system. See DISABLING SYSTEM under DISABLING & ACTIVATING AIR BAG SYSTEM. Disconnect SAS unit connector. Check short bar in SAS unit connector, terminals 2W and 2T for damage. If short bar is okay, go to next step. If short bar is damaged or bent, replace air bag wiring harness andgo to step 6.
Check short bar hook of SAS unit connector. If short bar hook is okay, go to next step. If short bar is damaged, replace SAS unit andgo to step 6. See SAS UNIT under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
Remove instrument cluster. See INSTRUMENT CLUSTER under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Insert an insulator between SAS unit harness connector terminals 2W and 2T to disable short bar. See Figure & Figure . Check continuity between ground and SAS unit connector terminal 2W. If continuity does not exist, go to next step. If continuity exists, replace air bag wiring harness andgo to step 6.
Check continuity between instrument cluster printed circuit plate terminal 1R and terminals 1A, 1D and 2B. See Figure. If continuity exists between any specified terminals, replace instrument cluster and go to next step. If continuity does not exist between any specified terminals, replace SAS unit and go to next step. See SAS UNIT under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
Reconnect all connectors and install previously removed components. Reconnect negative battery cable. Clear past malfunction DTCs. See CLEARING PAST MALFUNCTION DTCS under DIAGNOSTICS. Perform system operation check. See SYSTEM OPERATION CHECK . If AIR BAG warning light operates normally, trouble shooting is complete. If AIR BAG warning light does not operate normally, go to step 1 and repeat inspection.
