DtcSAS Unit Power Supply Circuit
- Before proceeding, see AIR BAG SAFETY PRECAUTIONS . Ensure battery voltage is 9 volts or more. If battery voltage is as specified, go to next step. If voltage is not as specified, inspect and repair battery and charging system as necessary andgo to step 4.
- Remove driver-side front scuff plate and side trim. Remove fuse block without disconnecting connectors. Turn ignition on. Measure voltage at fuse block connectors JB-09, terminal "B" (Black/Yellow wire) and connector JB-08, terminal "P" (Black/White wire). See Fig 1 & Figure
. If voltage is more than 9 volts, go to next step. If voltage is less than 9 volts, repair wiring harness between battery and fuse block andgo to step 4.
- Disable air bag system. See DISABLING SYSTEM under DISABLING & ACTIVATING AIR BAG SYSTEM. Access and disconnect SAS unit connectors. See SAS UNIT under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Reconnect negative battery cable. Turn ignition on. Measure voltage between ground and SAS unit connector terminals 2E and 2H. If voltage is more than 9 volts at each terminal, and if DTC 3 was retrieved as a present malfunction, replace SAS unit and go to next step. If voltage is more than 9 volts at each terminal, and if DTC 3 was retrieved as a past malfunction, go to next step. If voltage is less than 9 volts, replace air bag wiring harness between fuse block and SAS unit and go to next step.
- Disconnect negative battery cable. Reconnect all connectors and install previously removed components. Reconnect negative battery cable. Clear past malfunction DTCs. See CLEARING PAST MALFUNCTION DTCS under DIAGNOSTICS. Perform system operation check. See SYSTEM OPERATION CHECK . If AIR BAG warning light operates normally, trouble shooting is complete. If AIR BAG warning light does not operate normally, reconfirm malfunction symptoms.
