- PRECAUTION NOTE:
After turning the ignition switch off, waiting time may be required before disconnecting the cable from the battery terminal.
- DISCHARGE FUEL SYSTEM PRESSURE

- REMOVE ENGINE SIDE COVER RH

- RELEASE PARKING BRAKE

- DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL

- REMOVE FRONT BUMPER ASSEMBLY

- REMOVE NO. 1 ENGINE UNDER COVER ASSEMBLY
Remove in this Direction - - - Remove the 5 bolts.
- Move the side of the No. 1 engine under cover assembly facing the front of the vehicle toward the LH side and detach the temporary holding guide.
- Remove the No. 1 engine under cover assembly while detaching the 2 temporary holding guides of the No. 1 engine under cover assembly as shown in the illustration.
- REMOVE NO. 2 ENGINE UNDER COVER ASSEMBLY
- REMOVE FRAME UNDER COVER ASSEMBLY RH
- REMOVE FRAME UNDER COVER ASSEMBLY LH
- REMOVE FRONT TRANSMISSION UNDER COVER ASSEMBLY (w/o Oil Pan Protector)

- REMOVE OIL PAN PROTECTOR ASSEMBLY (w/ Oil Pan Protector)

- REMOVE FRONT WHEEL

- DISCONNECT WINDSHIELD WASHER HOSE ASSEMBLY
- REMOVE HOOD SUB-ASSEMBLY WARNING:
Be sure to perform this procedure with several people as the hood sub-assembly is very heavy.
- REMOVE HOOD LOCK RELEASE LEVER PROTECTOR

- REMOVE HOOD LOCK ASSEMBLY

- REMOVE HOOD LOCK CONTROL CABLE COVER

- DISCONNECT ENGINE ROOM MAIN WIRE
- REMOVE FRONT BUMPER ENERGY ABSORBER

- REMOVE FRONT BUMPER CENTER UPPER RETAINER
- For Standard:

- REMOVE AIR CONDITIONING TUBE AND ACCESSORY ASSEMBLY AND NO. 2 AIR CONDITIONING TUBE AND ACCESSORY ASSEMBLY
- Remove the bolt and cooler refrigerant liquid pipe A.
- Remove the O-ring from the cooler refrigerant liquid pipe A.NOTE:
Seal the openings of the disconnected parts using vinyl tape to prevent moisture and foreign matter from entering them.
- Remove the bolt and air conditioning tube and accessory assembly and No. 2 air conditioning tube and accessory assembly.
- REMOVE HOOD LOCK SUPPORT BRACE SUB-ASSEMBLY
- REMOVE UPPER RADIATOR SUPPORT SUB-ASSEMBLY
- REMOVE FRONT CROSS MEMBER
- DISCONNECT NO. 3 WATER BY-PASS HOSE
- REMOVE OIL COOLER TUBE AND OIL COOLER HOSE WITH OIL COOLER ASSEMBLY
- DISCONNECT NO. 4 WATER BY-PASS HOSE ASSEMBLY
*a Retainer - - Pull out Pull off - Disconnect the No. 4 water by-pass hose assembly connector from the water by-pass hose assembly.NOTE:
Remove any foreign matter on the water by-pass hose assembly and No. 4 water by-pass hose assembly connector before performing this work.
1. Pull out the retainer to disengage the lock claws and pull off the No. 4 water by-pass hose assembly connector.
2. Check that there is no foreign matter on the sealing surfaces of the disconnected water lines. Clean them if necessary.
3. Cover the disconnected No. 4 water by-pass hose assembly connector with a plastic bag to prevent damage and contamination.
- Disconnect the No. 4 water by-pass hose assembly connector from the water by-pass hose assembly.
- REMOVE UPPER ENGINE SIDE UNDER COVER PLATE LH
- REMOVE REAR ENGINE SIDE UNDER COVER ASSEMBLY LH
- REMOVE ENGINE SIDE UNDER COVER RH
- REMOVE BATTERY

- REMOVE BATTERY CARRIER ASSEMBLY
- DISCONNECT ECM CONNECTOR
Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 4 - DISCONNECT ENGINE WIRE
HINT:
After disconnecting the wire harness, secure it with tape or equivalent to keep it out of the way. - DISCONNECT NO. 1 FUEL VAPOR FEED HOSE
- DISCONNECT INLET HEATER WATER HOSE
*a Retainer - - Pull out Pull off - Disconnect the inlet heater water hose connector from the water by-pass hose assembly.NOTE:
Remove any foreign matter on the water by-pass hose assembly and inlet heater water hose connector before performing this work.
1. Pull out the retainer to disengage the lock claws and pull off the inlet heater water hose connector.
2. Check that there is no foreign matter on the sealing surfaces of the disconnected water lines. Clean them if necessary.
3. Cover the disconnected inlet heater water hose connector with a plastic bag to prevent damage and contamination.
- Disconnect the inlet heater water hose connector from the water by-pass hose assembly.
- DISCONNECT OUTLET HEATER WATER HOSE
- DISCONNECT FUEL TUBE SUB-ASSEMBLY
- Remove the fuel pipe clamp from the fuel tube connector.
- Disconnect the fuel tube sub-assembly.

- REMOVE NO. 2 PCV HOSE (NO. 2 VENTILATION HOSE)

- REMOVE ENGINE ASSEMBLY
- Attach an engine sling device and hang the engine with a chain block.
- Using a 17 mm hexagon wrench, remove the 4 hexagon socket head cap bolts.
- Remove the engine assembly by operating the engine sling device and chain block.NOTE:
- Make sure that the engine is clear of all wiring and hoses.
- While lowering the engine from the vehicle, do not allow it to contact the vehicle.
- INSTALL ENGINE STAND
- REMOVE ENGINE HANGER
- REMOVE ENGINE WIRE
- REMOVE FRONT NO. 1 ENGINE MOUNTING BRACKET LH
- REMOVE FRONT NO. 1 ENGINE MOUNTING BRACKET RH
- REMOVE FRONT ENGINE MOUNTING INSULATOR LH
