Removal Procedure

WARNING: This page is about a different variant/trim than selected.
  1. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle .
  2. Drain the cooling system. Refer to Cooling System Draining and Filling (2.0L LHU) .
  3. Remove the engine sight shield. Refer to Engine Sight Shield Replacement .
  4. Remove the air cleaner outlet duct. Refer to Air Cleaner Outlet Duct Replacement .
  5. Remove the air cleaner outlet rear duct. Refer to Air Cleaner Outlet Rear Duct Replacement .
  6. Remove the charge air cooler inlet hose - turbocharger side. Refer to Charge Air Cooler Inlet Hose Replacement (Turbocharger) .
  7. Remove the turbocharger heat shield. Refer to Turbocharger Heat Shield Replacement .
  8. Remove the three way catalytic converter. Refer to Three-Way Catalytic Converter Replacement (2.0L LHU) .
  9. Remove the catalytic converter. Refer to Catalytic Converter Replacement (2.0L LHU) .
  10. Remove the turbocharger oil return pipe. Refer to Turbocharger Oil Return Pipe Replacement .
  11. Remove the turbocharger oil feed pipe. Refer to Turbocharger Oil Feed Pipe Replacement .
  12. Remove the turbocharger coolant feed pipe. Refer to Turbocharger Coolant Feed Pipe Replacement .
  13. Remove the turbocharger coolant return pipe. Refer to Turbocharger Coolant Return Pipe Replacement .

  15. Disconnect the engine control module (ECM) wiring harness plug (3) from the turbocharger.
  16. Loosen the vacuum hose clamp (1) and remove the vacuum hose (2) from the turbocharger air bypass valve.

  18. Remove the positive crankcase ventilation hose bolt (3).
  19. Remove the positive crankcase ventilation hose 2).
  20. Remove and DISCARD the positive crankcase ventilation hose seal ring (1).
  21. Remove the steering gear heat shield. Refer to Steering Gear Heat Shield Replacement .
  22. Remove the heater inlet hose from the heater inlet. Refer to Heater Inlet Hose Replacement (2.0L LHU) .
  23. Remove the heater outlet hose from the heater outlet. Refer to Heater Outlet Hose Replacement (2.0L LHU) .

  25. Remove the brake and fuel pipe heat shield fasteners (2).
  26. Remove the brake and fuel pipe heat shield (1).
  27. Remove the turbocharger brace. Refer to Turbocharger Brace Replacement .

  29. Remove and DISCARD the 4 turbocharger nuts (2).
  30. Remove the turbocharger (1).
  31. Remove and DISCARD the turbocharger gasket (3).
