Make sure that there are no particles or impurities in the medium openings. Coolant or foreign substances in the oil can cause engine damage such as damage to the connecting rod bearing.

- Close the openings (1)
on the cylinder head.NOTE: RISK OF DAMAGE
Damage to the surface.
The use of metal-cutting tools (e.g., emery cloths) for cleaning surfaces can damage them and lead to leaks and/or engine damage.- Do not use any metal-cutting tools.
- Clean the cylinder head in the area of the sealing surfaces (1) .
- Open the openings (1)
on the cylinder head.
- Check the fitting sleeves (1)
for damage, replace if necessary.
The fitting sleeves must not be damaged or deformed or missing.
- Replace sealing ring (1)

- Insert cylinder head cover downwards and position it.

The layout of screws (10) and (15) is required for exact positioning of the camshaft position sensors.
- Tighten screws in the order (1) to (17) .

Install both VANOS solenoid actuators of cylinder bank 1
- Position VANOS solenoid actuator (1) .
- Turn VANOS solenoid actuator (1)
about 50° clockwise with the special tool 2 360 895 (2)
until the limit positions are on the clamps.
- Position VANOS solenoid actuator (1) .
- Turn VANOS solenoid actuator (1)
about 50° clockwise with the special tool 2 360 895 (2)
until the limit positions are on the clamps.
- Connect connectors (1) and lock.
- Position the positive battery cable.
- Tighten nut (1)
.TIGHTENING TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS
Positive battery cable to alternator Nut M8 Tightening torque 19 Nm - Connect connectors (1) and lock.
- Insert the cover of the positive battery cable (2)

- Clip in wiring harness mounting (3) .
- Connect connector (2) on Valvetronic servomotor and lock.
- Connect the connector (1) to the pressure sensor for intake air and lock it.

- Install the cover (2).
- Lock the lock (1).
