- Make sure that there is no charger connected to the jump start terminal in the engine compartment.
- Detach battery ground lead from battery.
- For auxiliary batteries: Detach battery minus cables from all auxiliary batteries.

Engine damage due to missing motor oil .
Missing motor oil following replacement of the cylinder head or the engine can lead to damage on the valve train .

- Loosen nuts (1).
- Feed out the positive battery terminal (2) and remote positive terminal (3) and place aside.
- Loosen clamps (1).
- Feed the coolant line (2) out of the battery tray (4) and place aside.
- Loosen screws (3).
- Slide out and remove the battery tray (4).
- Loosen screw (1).
- Feed out the ground strap (2) and set it aside.
- Unlock the locks (1).
- Feed out he vacuum line (2) and set it aside.
- Release the clamping collar (1) with the special tool 0 495 794 (17 2 050) .
- Feed out coolant line (2) and place to one side.
- Catch and dispose of escaping coolant.
- Unlock and loosen connector (1).
- Release the clamps (2).
- Remove the wiring harness section (3) and put to one side.
- Unlock and loosen coolant line (1).
- Release and unlock the coolant lines (1) and (2) on the heat management module (3).
- Catch and dispose of escaping coolant.
- Unlock and loosen connector (1).
- Unlock and loosen coolant line (2).
- Catch and dispose of escaping coolant.
- Unlock and loosen coolant line (1).
- Catch and dispose of escaping coolant.
- Unlock lock (1).
- Guide the fuel feed line (2) out and set it aside.
- Catch and dispose of escaping fuel.
- Unlock the locks (3).
- Feed the tank ventilation line (4) out and set it aside.
- Seal the fuel lines with special tools 0 496 565 (13 5 160) and 0 496 568 (13 5 162)
.CAUTION: Residual pressure in the heating and air conditioning system .
Injury hazard!- Wear safety goggles and protective gloves when disconnecting the refrigerant line.
- Close the refrigerant lines with seal plugs.
- Unlock and loosen connector (1).
- Loosen screws (2).
- Feed out the refrigerant line (3) and set it aside.
- Close the openings on the refrigerant lines (3) and the air conditioning compressor with standard tools.
- Unlock and loosen the locks (1).
- Disconnect coolant hoses from transmission oil cooler.
- Catch and dispose of escaping coolant.
- Detach the ribbon clamp (1).
- Make sure that the distance mandrels 40/50
of tabletop A
of the mobile lifting table are installed in the mounting point (1) of the oil sump.
- Have the set of special tools 2 305 379
ready.

Letter Description A Tabletop for engine with coordinates B Tabletop for transmission with coordinates - Position the adjustable mount (30) with the spacer pin (40) for the engine block on the tabletop (A) at the coordinates 6/5 and 2/6 (1).
- Position the adjustable mount (30) with the spacer pin (50) for the engine oil pan on the tabletop (A) at the coordinates 4/2 and 2/3 (2).
- Position the adjustable mount (30) with the spacer pin (80) for the transmission housing on the tabletop (B) at coordinates 9/6, 7/6
and 8/2
(3).
- Position the adjustable mount 2 357 221 for the transmission housing on the tabletop (B) at the coordinates 6/3 (4).
- Position lifting table under the engine.
- Abut all fixtures and screw to the lifting table.
- Make sure the spacer pins (1) are correctly positioned in the mounts (2) of the engine oil pan.
- Make sure the spacer pins (1) are correctly positioned in the mount (2) of the crankcase.
- Screw the special tool (adjustable stand) 2 357 221
onto the transmission housing using the screws (1).
- Mark (arrows) the position of the lifting table (1) on the workshop floor.
The marks (arrows) make the installation easier.

- Position weight compensation (1) on vehicle.
- Loosen screws (1).WARNING: Vehicle may slip off the vehicle hoist if the vehicle hoist is handled incorrectly .

- Loosen screws (1).
- Carefully raise the vehicle.
