Removal [06/2015 - 11/2018]: Procedure

  1. REMOVE PROTECTOR 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 1

  2. REMOVE HUMIDITY SENSOR 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 2

  3. REMOVE INNER REAR VIEW MIRROR STAY HOLDER COVER 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 1

  4. REMOVE INNER REAR VIEW MIRROR ASSEMBLY 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 2

  5. REMOVE NO. 1 LANE RECOGNITION COVER 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 1

  6. REMOVE LANE DEPARTURE WARNING CAMERA 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 2

  7. REMOVE RAIN SENSOR 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 1

  8. REMOVE CENTER ROOF DRIP SIDE FINISH MOULDING LH 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 1

  9. REMOVE CENTER ROOF DRIP SIDE FINISH MOULDING RH 

    HINT: 

    Use the same procedure for the LH side.

  10. REMOVE FRONT PILLAR OUTER GARNISH LH 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 2

  11. REMOVE FRONT PILLAR OUTER GARNISH RH 

    HINT: 

    Use the same procedure for the LH side.

  12. REMOVE WINDSHIELD WIPER MOTOR ASSEMBLY 

    Refer to REMOVAL [06/2015 - ]

  13. REMOVE WATER GUARD PLATE RH 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 9

  14. REMOVE NO. 2 HEATER AIR DUCT SPLASH SHIELD SEAL 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 8

  15. REMOVE WINDSHIELD GLASS 
    NOTE:
    • The windshield glass may fall while performing this procedure. Therefore, use suction cups to hold the windshield glass from the outside of the vehicle.
    • When replacing the windshield glass of a vehicle equipped with a lane departure warning camera, make sure to use a Lexus genuine part. If a non-Lexus genuine part is used, the lane departure warning camera may not be able to be installed due to a missing bracket or the lane departure alert system may not operate properly due to a difference in the transmissivity or black ceramic border.
    1. Disconnect the connector.

    2. Apply protective tape to the area around the installation position of the windshield glass sub-assembly on the vehicle body to prevent it from being scratched.

    3. Using a knife, cut off the windshield outside moulding as shown in the illustration.

      NOTE:
      • Be careful not to damage or scratch the windshield glass or vehicle body.
      • If there are any scratches on the body panels, perform rustproofing treatment after removing the windshield glass.
    4. When reusing the windshield glass:

      *a Matchmark
      1. Place matchmarks on the windshield glass sub-assembly and vehicle body at the locations indicated in the illustration.

        HINT: 

        Matchmarks are not necessary if the windshield glass sub-assembly is not going to be reused.

    5. Install the suction cups to the windshield glass.
    6. Pass a piano wire between the vehicle body and windshield glass sub-assembly from the interior.

      *2 Windshield Glass Retainer
      *a Piano Wire
    7. Tie both wire ends to wooden blocks or similar objects that can serve as handles.
      NOTE:
      • Do not forcefully brush the piano wire against the windshield glass.
      • To prevent the safety pad from being scratched when removing the windshield glass, place a plastic sheet between the piano wire and safety pad.
    8. Cut off the adhesive by pulling the piano wire around the windshield glass sub-assembly.
    9. Disengage the windshield glass stoppers and windshield glass retainers to remove the windshield glass.

      *1 NO. 1 WINDSHIELD GLASS STOPPER *2 NO. 2 WINDSHIELD GLASS STOPPER
      *3 WINDSHIELD GLASS RETAINER *4 WINDSHIELD GLASS
      NOTE:

      The No. 1 windshield glass stoppers and No. 2 windshield glass stoppers are installed to the windshield glass sub-assembly as shown in the illustration. Be careful not to damage the windshield glass sub-assembly when cutting off the adhesive.

  16. REMOVE WINDSHIELD OUTSIDE MOULDING 
    1. When reusing the windshield glass:
      1. Using a scraper, remove the windshield outside moulding.

        NOTE:
        • Be careful not to damage the windshield glass.
        • Be sure to replace the windshield outside moulding with a new one.
  17. REMOVE WINDOW GLASS ADHESIVE DAM 
    1. When reusing the windshield glass:
      1. Using a scraper, remove the window glass adhesive dam.

        NOTE:
        • Be careful not to damage the windshield glass.
        • Be sure to replace the window glass adhesive dam with a new one.
  18. REMOVE WINDSHIELD GLASS RETAINER 
    1. When reusing the windshield glass:
      1. Using a scraper, remove the windshield glass retainers.

        NOTE:
        • Be careful not to damage the windshield glass.
        • Be sure to replace the windshield glass retainer with a new one.
  19. REMOVE NO. 1 WINDSHIELD GLASS STOPPER (for 1-piece Type) 
    1. When reusing the windshield glass:
      1. Using a scraper, remove the 2 No. 1 windshield glass stoppers from the back side of the windshield glass.

        NOTE:
        • Be careful not to damage the windshield glass.
        • Be sure to replace the 1-piece type No. 1 windshield glass stoppers with new 2-piece type No. 1 and No. 2 windshield glass stoppers.
  20. REMOVE NO. 2 WINDSHIELD GLASS STOPPER (for 2-piece Type) 
    1. When reusing the windshield glass:
      1. Using a scraper, remove the 2 No. 2 windshield glass stoppers from the back side of the windshield glass.

        • Be sure to replace the No. 2 windshield glass stoppers with new ones.
  21. REMOVE NO. 1 WINDSHIELD GLASS STOPPER (for 2-piece Type) 
    1. Remove the 2 No. 1 windshield glass stoppers from the vehicle body.

      Remove in this Direction
      NOTE:

      Be sure to replace the No. 1 windshield glass stoppers with new ones.
