Section 12 (Engine Cooling System (HEV)): Radiator: Removal

WARNING: This page is about a different variant/trim than selected.
CAUTION:
  • The engine coolant is pressurized when it is hot. Wait until engine coolant cools down before proceeding the work.
  • If the engine coolant splashes, completely remove and clean it.
  1. Disconnect the ground terminal from battery. Ref. to REPAIR CONTENTS>REPAIR CONTENTS>NOTE>BATTERY .
  2. Remove the collector cover. Ref. to INTAKE (INDUCTION) (H4DO (EXCEPT FOR HEV))>COLLECTOR COVER>REMOVAL .
  3. Collect the refrigerant. Ref. to AIR CONDITIONER (HEV)>REFRIGERANT RECOVERY PROCEDURE>PROCEDURE .
  4. Drain engine coolant. (Engine side) Ref. to COOLING (H4DO (HEV))>ENGINE COOLANT>REPLACEMENT>DRAINING OF ENGINE COOLANT>ENGINE SIDE .
  5. Remove the inverter tank. Ref. to COOLING (H4DO (HEV))>INVERTER TANK>REMOVAL .
  6. Remove the front exhaust pipe. Ref. to EXHAUST (H4DO (EXCEPT FOR HEV))>FRONT EXHAUST PIPE>REMOVAL .
  7. Remove the lower side bolts (A) securing the radiator upper frame.
  8. Disconnect the main fan motor connector (B), sub fan motor connector (C) and hood switch connector (D).
  9. Disconnect the radiator outlet hose (E) from the thermostat cover and disconnect the inverter radiator inlet hose (F) from the radiator.
  10. Disconnect the hose - pressure suction valve (G) from the hose - pressure suction COMPL. Ref. to AIR CONDITIONER (HEV)>HOSE AND PIPE>REMOVAL>LOW PRESSURE VALVE HOSE .

  11. Remove the reservoir tank. Ref. to COOLING (H4DO (HEV))>RESERVOIR TANK>REMOVAL .
  12. Remove the front bumper. Ref. to EXTERIOR/INTERIOR TRIM>FRONT BUMPER>REMOVAL .
  13. Remove the bracket - bumper UPR.

  14. Remove the front hood lock assembly. Ref. to SECURITY AND LOCKS>FRONT HOOD LOCK ASSEMBLY>REMOVAL .
  15. Disconnect the connector from the horn, and remove the clip.

  16. Disconnect the radiator inlet hose (A) and over flow hose (B).

  17. Disconnect the hose - pressure suction (A) from the A/C accumulator assembly. Ref. to AIR CONDITIONER (HEV)>HOSE AND PIPE>REMOVAL>LOW-PRESSURE HOSE .
  18. Disconnect the hose - pressure suction COMPL (B) from the pipe - return assembly. Ref. to AIR CONDITIONER (HEV)>HOSE AND PIPE>REMOVAL>RETURN HOSE .

  19. Remove the upper side bolts securing the radiator upper frame, and remove the radiator upper frame together with the A/C accumulator assembly.
    CAUTION: Do not tilt the removed A/C accumulator assembly.

  20. Remove the radiator upper cushion.
  21. Disconnect the expansion valve - heater assembly (A) from the condenser assembly. Ref. to AIR CONDITIONER (HEV)>EXPANSION VALVE>REMOVAL>HEATER VALVE .
  22. Disconnect the connector (B) and connector (C) from the LOW solenoid valve.

  23. Disconnect the pipe - evaporator cooling (A) from the LOW solenoid valve. Ref. to AIR CONDITIONER (HEV)>HOSE AND PIPE>REMOVAL>COOLING PIPE .
  24. Remove the nut securing the CVTF cooler (air cool).

  25. Remove the CVTF cooler (air cool), move it aside so that it does not interfere with the work, and secure it to the vehicle with a rope, etc.

  26. Remove the radiator, radiator fan & fan motor assembly and condenser assembly as a single unit.
  27. Remove the condenser assembly from the radiator. Ref. to AIR CONDITIONER (HEV)>CONDENSER>REMOVAL>EXTERIOR CONDENSER .
  28. Remove the radiator fan & fan motor assembly from the radiator. Ref. to COOLING (H4DO (HEV))>RADIATOR FAN AND FAN MOTOR ASSEMBLY>REMOVAL .
  29. Disconnect the radiator outlet hose (A), inverter radiator outlet hose (B) and radiator inlet hose (C) from the radiator.

  30. Remove the radiator side gasket (A) and radiator lower gasket (B) from the radiator.
    NOTE: Remove if necessary.

  31. Remove the radiator lower cushion.
NOTE: Remove if necessary.
