Assembly and covering work when painting the rear fender - AR98.00-P-0207EW

  Mask off and cover in paint stage 2/3     
1.1 Detach rear bumper Paint stage 2  
  AR88.20-P-2200EW
IMPORTANT It is not necessary to remove the rear bumper; this can remain on the vehicle.  
1.2 Remove rear bumper Paint stage 3  
  AR88.20-P-2200EW
IMPORTANT If the damaged area is in the area of the rear bumper, it may be necessary to remove the bumper.  
2 Remove longitudinal member panel Paint stage 3  
  AR88.80-P-6000EW
IMPORTANT If the damaged area is in the area of the longitudinal member panel, it may be necessary to remove the longitudinal member panel.  
3 Remove taillamp   AR82.10-P-4905EW
4 Remove drip rail   AR88.80-P-4000EW
5 Remove trim strip at side roof paneling SPECIAL TOOL Long wedge Figure
6 Remove tank flap Right side of vehicle

7.1 Mask off tank recess Paint stage 2, right side of vehicle.  
7.2 Remove tank recess Paint stage 3, right side of vehicle.

IMPORTANT If the damaged area is in the area of the tank recess, it may be necessary to remove the tank recess.  
8 Install fuel filler flap, mask off inside of fuel filler flap and close fuel filler flap Paint stage 2, right side of vehicle.

9 Remove cover from trunk sealing frame   AR88.80-P-0004EW
IMPORTANT If the damaged area is in the area of the cover at the sealing frame, it may be necessary to remove the cover at the sealing frame.
10 Mask off all openings using adhesive tape  
11 Mask off rear fender all around edge  
12 Cover areas of the vehicle that are not to be painted with foil  
  Mask off and cover in paint stage 1E     
13 Remove rear bumper   AR88.20-P-2200EW
14 Remove rear crossmember under bumper    
15 Remove bracket for rear bumper    
16 Remove rear wall window MODEL 212.0
without CODE Z04 (Light armoring)

17 Remove longitudinal member panel   AR88.80-P-6000EW
18 Remove taillamp   AR82.10-P-4905EW
19 Remove tank recess Right side of vehicle

20 Remove rear door   AR72.12-P-0600CW
21 Remove edge guard for door cutout of rear door    
22 Detach floor covering    
23 Remove edge guard for trunk cutout    
24 Remove cover from trunk sealing frame   AR88.80-P-0004EW
25 Remove drip rail   AR88.80-P-4000EW
26 Remove trim strip at side roof paneling SPECIAL TOOL Long wedge Figure
27 Remove rear fender liner    
28 Remove rear vent flap    
29 Mask off all openings using adhesive tape  
30 Mask off rear fender all around edge  
31 Cover areas of the vehicle that are not to be painted with foil
