Remove/install air conditioner housing - AR83.30-P-5200CW

REMOVINGINSTALLING Remove/install     
DANGER Risk of injury  to skin and eyes suffering scalding from contact with hot coolantspray. Risk of poisoning  from swallowing coolant. Do not open cooling system unless coolant temperature is below 90 °C. Open cap slowly and release the pressure. Do not pour coolant into beverage containers.
Wear protective gloves, protective clothing and safety glasses.

1 Drain air conditioning system IMPORTANT Installation: Evacuate air conditioning system, refill it and check it for proper operation and leaktightness. AR83.30-P-1760CW 
2 Remove wiper system   AR82.30-P-6400CW
3 Unscrew nut (1) and detach retaining clamp (2) MODEL 204, 207, 218  
4 Unscrew nut (3)    
5 Pull suction line (4) out of expansion valve (5) and close off IMPORTANT Installation: Replace sealing ring (20).  
6 Unscrew nut (6)    
7 Pull pressure line (7) out of expansion valve (5) and close off IMPORTANT Installation: Replace sealing ring at pressure line (7).  
8 Reduce pressure in cooling system IMPORTANT Carefully open cap at coolant expansion reservoir and then close again.  
9 Unclip brake line (8) from holder (9) and push to one side IMPORTANT For better accessibility of the hose clamp on the coolant hose (11).  
10 Clamp off coolant hoses (10, 11) using pinch-off pliers (12) and remove from the connection fitting (13) on the air conditioner housing (A32) Tools for installing/removing cooling and heating hoses  
11 Seal connection fitting (13) on air conditioner housing (A32) NOTES
Coolant leaks through connection fittings (13) that are not closed off when the air conditioner housing (A32) is removed.
The vehicle interior can hereby be soiled.
 
12 Remove cross member under instrument panel MODEL 204, 207, 212, 218

13 Disconnect radio fan electrical connector (X120) from COMAND fan motor (M4/13) MODEL 204, 207, 212, 218 with CODE 512 (COMAND APS with DVD changer)
MODEL 204, 207, 212, 218 with CODE 526 (COMAND (without navigation))
MODEL 204, 207, 212, 218 with CODE 527 (COMAND APS with single DVD drive (with navigation))
MODEL 204, 207, 212, 218 with CODE 528 (HIGH Class USA)
 
14 Disconnect electrical connector (14) from evaporator temperature sensor (B10/6)    
15 Detach left and right water drain hoses (15) from air conditioner housing (A32)    
16 Detach rear left and right air ducts (16) from air conditioner housing (A32)    
17 Remove air duct (17) from COMAND fan motor (M4/13) MODEL 204, 207, 212, 218 with CODE 512 (COMAND APS with DVD changer)

MODEL 204, 207, 212, 218 with CODE 527 (COMAND APS)

18 Remove air intake duct (18) from COMAND fan motor (M4/13) MODEL 204, 207, 212, 218 with CODE 512 (COMAND APS with DVD changer)

MODEL 204, 207, 212, 218 with CODE 527 (COMAND APS with single DVD drive (with navigation))

IMPORTANT Installation: Ensure that air intake duct (18) engages completely at COMAND fan motor (M4/13). Otherwise the air intake duct (18) can work its way loose and thus generate noise.
 
19 Have someone assist you when removing the air conditioner housing (A32) from the vehicle NOTES
Carefully take out air conditioner housing (A32).
To prevent damage to components in interior.
 
20 Install in the reverse order    
21 Fill with coolant, vent cooling system and check for signs of leaks MODEL 207 with ENGINE 276.8 AR20.00-P-1142A
