Drain/pour in coolant - AR20.00-P-1142CMG

DANGER Risk of injury  to skin and eyes suffering scalding from contact with hot coolant spray. Risk of poisoning  from swallowing coolant. Do not open cooling system unless coolant temperature is below 90 °C. Open cap slowly and release the pressure. Do not pour coolant into beverage containers.
Wear protective gloves, protective clothing and safety glasses.

DANGER Risk of death  caused by vehicle slipping or toppling off of the lifting platform. Align vehicle between vehicle lift columns and position the four support plates at the vehicle lift support points specified by the vehicle manufacturer. AS00.00-Z-0010-01A

  Drain off     
1 Detach ground line from battery When draining coolant at the right crankcase drain screw (3).

2 Unscrew cap of the coolant expansion reservoir IMPORTANT Unscrew cap slowly and relieve overpressure.  
  Drain coolant at radiator     
3 Raise vehicle    
4 Slide drain hose onto fitting on radiator IMPORTANT The fitting is located at the bottom left on the radiator.  
5 Unfasten radiator drain screw (1) and drain coolant. NOTES
Only remove radiator drain screw (1) until coolant flows out.
The radiator drain screw (1) can be permanently damaged otherwise.
IMPORTANT Observe regulations for disposal of coolant.
IMPORTANT Catch coolant in a suitable container.
 
  Drain coolant on crankcase     
6 Unfasten crankcase drain screw on the left (3) and crankcase drain screw on the right (2) IMPORTANT Only loosen left crankcase drain screw (2) and right crankcase drain screw (3) at crankcase until they can be turned by hand.  
7 Push drain hose onto left crankcase drain screw (2) and right crankcase drain screw (3)    
8 Further unfasten left crankcase drain screw (2) and right crankcase drain screw (3) and drain off coolant IMPORTANT Observe regulations for disposal of coolant.
IMPORTANT Catch coolant in a suitable container.
 
  Pour in     
9 Tighten drain screw (1) at radiator and detach drain hose from fitting After coolant has been drained at radiator  
10 Detach drain hoses from left crankcase drain screw (2) and right crankcase drain screw (3) After coolant has been drained at crankcase  
11 Tighten crankcase drain screw on the left (3) and crankcase drain screw on the right (2) TORQUE SPECIFICATION Drain screw for coolant *BA03.20-P-1009-01J 
12 Pour in coolant and ventilate engine cooling system

IMPORTANT Use clean coolant again.

13 Connect ground line to battery After draining coolant at the right crankcase drain screw (3).

INSPECT Check     
14 Check engine cooling system for leaktightness   AR20.00-P-1010CMG 
DANGER Risk of accident  from vehicle starting off by itself when engine running. Risk of injury  (bruises and burns) resulting from working on the engine while it is being started or when it is running. Secure vehicle to prevent it from starting off by itself. Wear closed and snug-fitting work clothes. Do not touch hot or rotating parts. AS00.00-Z-0005-01A
15 Perform an engine test run and check engine cooling system for proper operation
