Drain/pour in coolant - AR20.00-P-1142EWS

DANGER Risk of injury  to skin and eyes suffering scalding from contact with hot coolant spray. Risk of poisoning  from swallowing coolant. Do not open cooling system unless coolant temperature is below 90 °C. Open cap slowly and release the pressure. Do not pour coolant into beverage containers.
Wear protective gloves, protective clothing and safety glasses.

  Drain off     
1 Detach ground line from battery When draining coolant at the right drain screw (5) on the crankcase.

2 Unscrew cap of the coolant expansion reservoir IMPORTANT Unscrew cap slowly and relieve overpressure.  
3 Remove front section of the lower engine compartment paneling   AR61.20-P-1105EW
  Drain coolant at radiator     
4 Slide drain hose onto left fitting (3) at radiator    
5 Slacken drain screw on radiator (4) and drain coolant. NOTES
Remove radiator drain screw (4) until the coolant flows out.
Permanent damage to the radiator drain screw (4) will occur otherwise.
IMPORTANT Catch coolant in a suitable container.
IMPORTANT Observe regulations to dispose of coolant.
 
6 Tighten down radiator drain screw (4) and pull out drain hose (3)    
  Drain coolant on crankcase     
7 Loosen left or right drain screw (5) on crankcase until it can be turned manually    
8 Push drain hose (3) onto left or right crankcase drain screw (5)    
9 Manually turn left or right crankcase drain screw (5) by hand and drain off coolant IMPORTANT Catch coolant in a suitable container.
IMPORTANT Observe regulations to dispose of coolant.
 
10 Detach drain hose (3) and tighten left or right crankcase drain screw (5) TORQUE SPECIFICATION Coolant drain plug to cylinder crankcase *BA20.00-P-1001-02E 
  Pour in     
11 Pour in coolant and ventilate engine cooling system

12 Check engine cooling system for leaktightness   AR20.00-P-1010EW 
13 Attach ground line to battery After draining coolant at right crankcase drain screw (5)

DANGER Risk of accident  from vehicle starting off by itself when engine running. Risk of injury  (bruises and burns) resulting from working on the engine while it is being started or when it is running. Secure vehicle to prevent it from starting off by itself. Wear closed and snug-fitting work clothes. Do not touch hot or rotating parts. AS00.00-Z-0005-01A
15 Perform an engine test run and check engine cooling system for proper operation
