Replace timing chain - AR05.10-P-7601CD

MODIFICATION NOTES

11.5.11 Information for installation position of the timing chain, added Operation step 5  
REMOVING Removing     
1 Remove cylinder head cover trim    
2 Remove cylinder head cover   AR01.20-P-5014CD
3 Remove chain tensioner   AR05.10-P-7800CD 
4 Disconnect timing chain (1) IMPORTANT Before separating old timing chain (1), check both camshaft sprockets for grooves and pitting, if necessary, remove camshafts and replace defective camshaft sprocket. See: ↓ AR05.10-P-7601-01CD 
    Remove/install camshafts
IMPORTANT Cover over timing case recess with a clean cloth.

INSTALLING Install     
5.1 Draw in timing chain (1) With code (B03) ECO start/stop function
NOTES Always remove the SPECIAL TOOL assembly connecting link, the SPECIAL TOOL assembly outer plate and the SPECIAL TOOL assembly locking element after pulling in the new timing chain (1). Damage can occur on the engine otherwise.
NOTES The engine must not be turned back. The timing chain can skip otherwise and can cause engine damage.
Turn engine using a suitable tool.

5.2 Draw in timing chain (1) Except code (B03) ECO start-stop function
NOTES It is essential to remove SPECIAL TOOL assembly connecting link, SPECIAL TOOL assembly outer plate and assembly locking element after pulling in the new timing chain (1) in order to avoid damage to the engine.
IMPORTANT Crank engine in direction of rotation. The bores (arrow) of the new timing chain (1) must point outwards.
Turn engine using a SPECIAL TOOL counterholder.

6 Rivet timing chain (1) IMPORTANT Cover over timing case recess with a clean cloth. AR05.10-P-7601-02CD

7 Install chain tensioner   AR05.10-P-7800CD 
INSPECT Checking     
8 Check basic setting for camshafts. IMPORTANT Set up basic position for camshafts as required.
