When carrying out work on timing case recess, protect this with a clean cloth to prevent small items dropping down. Parts which have fallen into the timing case recess must be removed to avoid engine damage.
- Insert new riveted link (1) into the ends of the new timing chain (2).
Place assembly insert (8) with the digit F12 into the
rivet press tool (5) and fix with mounting screw.
- Insert movable
thrust piece (9) with digit D14 into the
rivet press tool (5).
Place outer plate (10) into thrust piece (9) with digit D14
The outer plate (10) is retained magnetically.
Position riveting tool (5) in such a way that the spacer bushing touches the guide.
Ensure that the riveted link and outer plate are aligned.
- Screw in pressure screw at
rivet press tool (5) until solid resistance is present.
When turning the spindle, ensure that pins on the riveted link move into the holes of the outer plate.
Take off riveting tool (5).
- Movable
Turn over thrust piece (9) with digit D14 on the riveted profile (arrow).
Fit on rivet press tool (5) exactly above the center of the pin (arrow).
Rivet pins for the riveted link individually.
- Tighten thrust spindle at
riveting tool (5).
Tightening torque of pressure screw: reference value approx. 30 to 35 Nm.
Take off riveting tool (5).
- Check riveting (arrows), re-rivet if required.
