Rivet timing chain - AR05.10-P-7601-02CD

NOTES When carrying out work on timing case recess, protect this with a clean cloth to prevent small items dropping down. Parts which have fallen into the timing case recess must be removed to avoid engine damage.

  1. Insert new riveted link (1) into the ends of the new timing chain (2).

  2. SPECIAL TOOL Place assembly insert (8) with the digit F12 into the SPECIAL TOOL rivet press tool (5) and fix with mounting screw.
  3. Insert movable SPECIAL TOOL thrust piece (9) with digit D14 into the SPECIAL TOOL rivet press tool (5).

  4. SPECIAL TOOL Place outer plate (10) into thrust piece (9) with digit D14 IMPORTANTSPECIAL TOOL The outer plate (10) is retained magnetically.

  5. SPECIAL TOOL Position riveting tool (5) in such a way that the spacer bushing touches the guide.

    IMPORTANT Ensure that the riveted link and outer plate are aligned.

  6. Screw in pressure screw at SPECIAL TOOL rivet press tool (5) until solid resistance is present.

    IMPORTANT When turning the spindle, ensure that pins on the riveted link move into the holes of the outer plate.

  7. SPECIAL TOOL Take off riveting tool (5).

  8. Movable SPECIAL TOOL Turn over thrust piece (9) with digit D14 on the riveted profile (arrow).

  9. SPECIAL TOOL Fit on rivet press tool (5) exactly above the center of the pin (arrow).

    IMPORTANT Rivet pins for the riveted link individually.

  10. Tighten thrust spindle at SPECIAL TOOL riveting tool (5).

    IMPORTANT Tightening torque of pressure screw: reference value approx. 30 to 35 Nm.

  11. SPECIAL TOOL Take off riveting tool (5).

  12. Check riveting (arrows), re-rivet if required.
