Retrofit COMAND with APS navigation system - AN82.85-P-0003EWA

REMOVING Remove     
1 Move driver seat and front passenger seat towards rear    
2 Remove Audio 20 radio or Audio 20 radio incl. CD changer    
REFER TO TESTING & REPAIR     AR82.60-P-7502EW
    IMPORTANT Audio 20 radio or Audio 20 radio with CD changer is no longer required.  
3 Remove 5-inch Audio/COMAND display (A40/8)    
REFER TO TESTING & REPAIR     AR82.60-P-7722EW
    IMPORTANT The 5 inch Audio/COMAND display (A40/8) is no longer required.  
4 Remove glove compartment    
REFER TO TESTING & REPAIR     AR68.10-P-1200EW
5 Remove instrument cluster (A1)    
REFER TO TESTING & REPAIR     AR54.30-P-6015EW
INSTALLING Install     
6 Retrofit antenna for global positioning system (GPS)   AN82.61-P-7474-04EWM 
7 Install COMAND fan motor (M413)   AN82.85-P-0005-01EWM
8 Install wiring harness of COMAND fan motor (M4/13)   AN82.85-P-0005-02EWM 
9 Install remaining parts IMPORTANT Steps 5 to 4 and step 1.  
10 Install 7-inch Audio/COMAND display (A40/8)    
REFER TO TESTING & REPAIR     AR82.60-P-7722EW
11 Install COMAND controller unit (A403) with DVD changer    
REFER TO TESTING & REPAIR     AR82.60-P-7502EW
  Update Vehicle Documentation (VeDoc)     
12 Delete special equipment in online vehicle data card IMPORTANT CODE 510 (Audio 20 with CD changer) or CODE 523 (MB Audio 20 radio)  
13 Enter special equipment in online vehicle data card IMPORTANT CODE 527 (COMAND with APS navigation system)  
14 Attach note "COMAND with APS navigation system retrofitted as per AN82.85-P-0003EWA " under field organization texts to DG 82    
15 Connect diagnostic system and select vehicle via the vehicle identification number (VIN)    
REFER TO SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEMS     AD00.00-P-2000-04A
16 Carry out variant coding using software calibration number (SCN) IMPORTANT "Instrument cluster" "COMAND controller unit (A40/3) with DVD changer"  
17 Disconnect diagnostic system

INSPECT Check     
18 Perform function test IMPORTANT See operator's manual for "COMAND controller unit (A40/3)".
