REMOVING Remove     
1 Move driver seat and front passenger seat towards rear    
2 Remove Audio 20 radio or Audio 20 with CD changer radio or Audio 50 APS radio or Audio 50 APS with DVD changer radio    
REFER TO TESTING & REPAIR     AR82.60-P-7502EW
    IMPORTANT The removed audio component is no longer required.  
3 Remove 5-inch Audio/COMAND display (A40/8)

6 Remove steering column tube module

7 Unclip and remove steering column sleeve (10) at instrument panel    
8 Remove screws/bolts (7, 8) and lower steering column tube (6)    
INSTALLING Install

12 Position steering column tube (6) and tighten using screws/bolts (7, 8) TORQUE SPECIFICATION Lower bolt, steering column tube to crossmember below instrument panel *BA46.10-P-1001-03Q 
    Upper bolt, steering column tube to crossmember below instrument panel *BA46.10-P-1002-03Q 
13 Clip in steering column sleeve (10) into the instrument panel    
14 Install steering column module

18 Install COMAND controller unit (A403) with DVD changer

19 Connect diagnostic system    
20 Enter special equipment in online vehicle data card via Vehicle Documentation System (VeDoc) IMPORTANTDelete: 
  • CODE 510 (Audio 20 with CD changer) or
  • CODE 511 (Audio 50 APS with DVD changer) or
  • CODE 523 (MB Audio 20 radio) or
  • CODE 525 (MB Audio 50 APS radio)

Add: 
  • CODE 512 (COMAND APS with DVD changer)
  
21 Document retrofitted equipment via vehicle documentation (VeDoc) IMPORTANT Attach "COMAND APS with DVD changer retrofitted as per AN82.85-P-0004EWA " note under the field organization texts to design group 82.  
22 Connect Star Diagnosis and select vehicle via the vehicle identification number (VIN)    
REFER TO SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEMS     AD00.00-P-2000-04A
23 Perform variant coding with XENTRY using the software calibration number (SCN)    
24 Disconnect Star Diagnosis    
REFER TO SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEMS     AD00.00-P-2000-04A
25 Perform function test IMPORTANT See operator's manual for COMAND controller unit (A40/3) incl. DVD changer.
