Remove and install the transfer box (VTG) (Cooper Clubman ALL4 models)

Failure to comply with this requirement will result in serious damage to the transfer box (VTG).

Preliminary work needed: 

• Disconnect BATTERY GROUND LEAD .
• Remove right OUTPUT SHAFT .
• Remove PROP SHAFT .
• Remove STARTER MOTOR .
• Remove INTERMEDIATE SHAFT WITH SUPPORT TUBE .
• Remove HOLDER WITH RUBBER MOUNT .
• Support transmission with lifter.

Removal: 

Unscrew the screws (1).

Remove heat shield.

Unscrew the screws (1).

Remove the transfer box (VTG).

Installation:

If necessary, insert the intermediate shaft (1) onto the automatic or manual transmission output and replace the radial shaft seal. Refer to: THE RIGHT RADIAL SHAFT SEAL ON THE DIFFERENTIAL (GS6X60DA/BA) or THE RIGHT RADIAL SHAFT SEAL ON DIFFERENTIAL (AISIN F22AW) .

Evenly coat the inside of the output flange with approximately 5g grease.

Grease:  Lubricating grease Optitemp HT 1 LF, part number 83 23 0 417 754

Install the transfer box (VTG).

Tighten down screws (1).

Tightening torque 27 10 1AZ .

Install heat shield.

Tighten down screws (1).

Tightening torque 27 10 2AZ .

Required follow-up work: 

• Install HOLDER WITH RUBBER MOUNT .
• Install INTERMEDIATE SHAFT WITH SUPPORT TUBE  .
• Install STARTER .
• Install PROP SHAFT .
• Install right OUTPUT SHAFT .
• Connect BATTERY GROUND LEAD .
