Replacing right radial shaft seal on differential (8-speed, AISIN GA8F22AW) (Cooper Clubman base AWD, Cooper Clubman S AWD, Cooper Clubman JCW)

Special tools required: 

• 23 0 490
• 2 409 025
• 2 411 739
• 2 408 152
• 2 413 037
• 2 408 150

Preliminary work needed: 

• Remove TRANSFER BOX .
• Remove INTAKE SILENCER HOUSING .

Removal: 

Screw in the special tool 2 409 025 into the outer radial shaft seal.

Turn the screw on the special tool 2 409 025 until the outer radial shaft seal has been pulled out.

Insert the special tool 2 411 739 into the inner radial shaft seal.

Screw the special tool 2 411 739 into the inner radial shaft seal.

Turn the screw on the special tool 2 411 739 until the inner radial shaft seal has been pulled out.

Installation: 

Installation note: 

Coat sealing lips of new inner radial shaft seal with clean transmission oil.

Drive in inner radial shaft seal all the way using special tool 2 408 152 and 2 413 037.

Coat sealing lips of new outer radial shaft seal with clean transmission oil.

Drive in outer radial shaft seal all the way using special tool 2 408 150 and 2 413 037.

Required follow-up work: 

• Install TRANSFER BOX .
• Check transmission oil level. Refer to CHECKING/TOPPING UP OIL LEVEL IN AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION (GA8G45 / F22AW) or OIL CHANGE IN THE MANUAL TRANSMISSION (GS6-60DA, GS6X60DA/BA) (COOPER ALL4) .
• Install INTAKE SILENCER HOUSING .
