Perform Wheel Alignment Check - AR40.20-P-0200S

MODIFICATION NOTES

07.03.2022 Select drive program "Comfort". Operation step 13.  
INSPECT Check     
1 Check length of thread on front axle tie rods.   AR40.20-P-0002-01S 
    HAND-HELD TESTER Remaining thread length of tie rod If there is a problem,

check center position of steering gear relative to steering wheel.
*BE46.10-P-1001-01F 
    If there is a problem,

check components of front axle and replace corresponding component parts.

2 Check condition of vehicle. IMPORTANT For the wheel alignment measurement, all the vehicle parts must be installed and the vehicle must be fully assembled and ready to drive. Do not load the vehicle. The specified values for the vehicle are provided based on the actual values determined by the dimensional check system.
The specified tolerances of vehicle specified values are only for the test. If the vehicle is adjusted, the specified values should be aimed for.
 
3 Check condition and tire tread depth of tires.

4 Check rims for damage.    
5 Check and correct tire pressure.

6 Check vehicle underside for damage and corrosion of suspension, chassis and load-bearing body parts.

7 Check condition of front axle mechanical steering components.

8 Check condition of rear axle mechanical steering components. Model 223

9 Check front axle joints for play and check dust boots for damage.

11 Check condition of shock absorbers and springs.

  Preparatory tasks     
12 Print out form for wheel alignment measurement. If a visual wheel alignment measurement is performed.

13 Select drive program "Comfort".    
14 Deactivate rear axle steering by activating roller brake test stand mode. Model 223

15 Drive the vehicle onto measuring station and secure using parking brake.    
16 Unlock turn and slip plates.    
17 Raise vehicle level and lower again.

18 Switch off easy entry and exit feature. Model 223
with code 275 (Memory Package (driver's seat, steering column and mirror))
 
19 Lower window of driver's door.    
20 Install brake pedal jack with adapter for brake pedal jack between brake pedal and driver's seat. NOTES
Protect contact surfaces of SPECIAL TOOL brake pedal jack with SPECIAL TOOL adapter for brake pedal jack on brake pedal and on driver's seat.
Otherwise, the brake pedal and driver's seat may be damaged.
IMPORTANT The vehicle must not be loaded again during the remaining work procedure.

21 Determine vehicle level on front and rear axle using electronic inclinometer.   AR40.20-P-0301S 
22 Attach quick clamping devices at front and rear wheels and remove tensioning levers. IMPORTANT The mount is centered relative to the wheel hub or rear axle shaft flange by check pins via the five mounting holes in the rim. AR40.20-P-0230SX 
23 Attach wheel mirrors or measurement pickups.    
24 Attach measuring heads.    
MEASURING Measure     
25 Carry out input measurement.    
26 Compare determined values with the specified values. Assign suspension data
IMPORTANT The rear axle camber cannot be adjusted.
If there is a problem with the rear axle camber,

replace corresponding component parts.

27 Adjust toe on rear axle. According to results of initial measurement.

28 Adjust caster on front axle. According to results of initial measurement.

29 Adjust camber on front axle. According to results of initial measurement.

MEASURING Measure     
31 Carry out output measurement.    
  Concluding tasks     
32 Detach measuring heads.    
33 Remove wheel mirrors or measurement pickups.    
34 Attach tensioning levers and remove quick clamping devices.   AR40.20-P-0230SX

36 Lock turn and slip plates.    
37 Activate rear axle steering by deactivating roller brake test stand mode. Model 223

38 Drive vehicle off measuring system.    
39 Switch on easy entry and exit feature. Model 223

40 Check headlamp adjustment.
