DANGER Risk of death  caused by vehicle slipping or toppling off of the lifting platform. Align vehicle between vehicle lift columns and position the four support plates at the vehicle lift support points specified by the vehicle manufacturer. AS00.00-Z-0010-01A

  Preparatory activity     
1 Lift vehicle with vehicle lift.    
REFER TO TESTING & REPAIR     AR00.60-P-1006A
INSPECT Check     
2 Check underfloor paneling for evidence of damage caused by driving over obstacles or bottoming. If the underfloor paneling exhibits any signs of damage,

rectify the problems.
IMPORTANT After obtaining special order.
 
REMOVING Remove     
3 Remove front engine compartment lining (31), center engine compartment lining (32) and rear engine compartment lining (33).    
REFER TO TESTING & REPAIR   Model 223 AR61.20-P-1105S
INSPECT Check     
4 Assess the wheel bearings by firmly tugging, pushing and turning at the wheels. If problems are determined,

rectify the problems.
IMPORTANT After obtaining special order.
 
5 Check front axle carrier (10) for cracks, deformation and corrosion. If problems are determined,

rectify the problems.
IMPORTANT After obtaining special order.
 
6 Check shock absorber elastomer bearings (9) for cracks, deformation and wear, then check for play by firmly pulling and pushing on front shock absorbers. IMPORTANT The front elastomer bearings (9) must be seated with zero clearance in the housing eye and they must not be cracked or damaged.
If problems are determined,

rectify the problems.

7 Check spring links (1) for cracks, deformation and corrosion. If problems are determined,

rectify the problems.
IMPORTANT After obtaining special order.
 
8 Check spring link elastomer bearings (2) for cracks, deformation and wear as well as for play by firmly pulling and pushing. If problems are determined,

rectify the problems.
IMPORTANT After obtaining special order.
 
9 Check strut rods (5) for cracks, deformation and corrosion. If problems are determined,

rectify the problems.
IMPORTANT After obtaining special order.
 
10 Check strut rod elastomer bearings (6) for cracks, deformation and wear; also check for play by firmly pulling and pushing. If problems are determined,

rectify the problems.
IMPORTANT After obtaining special order.
 
11 Check stabilizer (11) for cracks, deformation and corrosion. If problems are determined,

rectify the problems.
IMPORTANT After obtaining special order.
 
12 Check stabilizer bushings (12) for cracks, deformation and wear. Also check for play by firmly pulling and pushing on stabilizer (11). If problems are determined,

rectify the problems.
IMPORTANT After obtaining special order.
 
13 Check spring control arm joint boots (4) for condition, leak tightness and correct seating. If problems are determined,

rectify the problems.
IMPORTANT After obtaining special order.
 
14 Check spring link joints (3) for deformation and wear; also check for play by firmly pulling and pushing. If problems are determined,

rectify the problems.
IMPORTANT After obtaining special order.
 
15 Check strut rod joint boots (8) for condition, leak tightness and correct seating. If problems are determined,

rectify the problems.
IMPORTANT After obtaining special order.
 
16 Check strut rod joints (7) for deformation and wear; also check for play by firmly pulling and pushing. If problems are determined,

rectify the problems.
IMPORTANT After obtaining special order.
 
17 Check upper link rod mounts (17) for play by firmly pulling and pushing. If problems are determined,

rectify the problems.
IMPORTANT After obtaining special order.
 
18 Check link rods (20) for deformation and corrosion. If problems are determined,

rectify the problems.
IMPORTANT After obtaining special order.
 
19 Check upper link rod joints (19) for play by firmly pulling and pushing. If problems are determined,

rectify the problems.
IMPORTANT After obtaining special order.
 
20 Check upper link rod joint boots (18) for condition, leak tightness and correct seating. If problems are determined,

rectify the problems.
IMPORTANT After obtaining special order.
 
21 Check lower link rod joints (22) for play by firmly pulling and pushing. If problems are determined,

rectify the problems.
IMPORTANT After obtaining special order.
 
22 Check lower link rod joint boots (21) for condition, leak tightness and correct seating. If problems are determined,

rectify the problems.
IMPORTANT After obtaining special order.
 
23 Check outer drive shaft boots (13) for condition, leak tightness and correct seating. Model 223 with code M005 (Vehicles with 4MATIC/all-wheel drive)
If problems are determined,

rectify the problems.
IMPORTANT After obtaining special order.
 
24 Check inner drive shaft boots (14) for condition, leak tightness and correct seating. Model 223 with code M005 (Vehicles with 4MATIC/all-wheel drive)
If problems are determined,

rectify the problems.
IMPORTANT After obtaining special order.
 
25 Check clamps (15) for cracks, deformation, corrosion and correct seating. Model 223 with code M005 (Vehicles with 4MATIC/all-wheel drive)
If problems are determined,

rectify the problems.
IMPORTANT After obtaining special order.
 
26 Check drive shafts (16) for cracks, deformation, corrosion then check for play by pulling and pushing. Model 223 with code M005 (Vehicles with 4MATIC/all-wheel drive)
If problems are determined,

rectify the problems.
IMPORTANT After obtaining special order.
 
27 Check level sensor linkage (23) for correct seating, cracks, deformation, corrosion and play. If problems are determined,

rectify the problems.
IMPORTANT After obtaining special order.
 
28 Check upper transverse control arms (24) for cracks, deformation and corrosion. If problems are determined,

rectify the problems.
IMPORTANT After obtaining special order.
 
29 Check upper transverse control arm elastomer bearings (25) for cracks, deformation and wear; also check for play by firmly pulling and pushing. If problems are determined,

rectify the problems.
IMPORTANT After obtaining special order.
 
30 Check upper transverse control arm joint boots (27) for condition, leak tightness and correct seating. If problems are determined,

rectify the problems.
IMPORTANT After obtaining special order.
 
31 Check upper transverse control arm joints (26) for play by firmly pulling and pushing on upper transverse control arms (24). If problems are determined,

rectify the problems.
IMPORTANT After obtaining special order.
 
INSTALLING Install     
32 Install front engine compartment lining (31), center engine compartment lining (32) and rear engine compartment lining (33).    
REFER TO TESTING & REPAIR   Model 223 AR61.20-P-1105S
